Gruden definately... [out, Tressel hired. Supposedly.]

There is no way I believe we hired a coach with a show cause penalty until I see a press conference.

Not going to happen. We just received additional penalties, don't think we would bring in a guy that would have tha NCAA crawling all over our athletic department.

Exactly. We had to fire Pearl for lying to the NCAA. Why would we hire Tressel who was fired from OSU for the exact same thing?

I think that this hire would be pretty good. I know he didn't win against SEC teams, but he didn't have SEC talent, either. I think the five games he would have to sit out is not that big of a deal. Next year will be brutal anyway. Not a huge price to pay for a great coach.

It's human nature to over react and believe either the worst or the best, depending on what suits us.

In this case, the whole ordeal is based upon him NOT reporting that some of his players committed an infraction (trading their jersey for a tattoo). It's debatable that it's even an infraction...period. When I heard about it and even after some further research (including the actual NCAA ruling), all I have to say is....

The man clearly didn't see it as an infraction, and thus there was nothing to even report. I agree. How in the hell can the NCAA tell anyone that they can't trade or sell their own belongings?

I'm sure anything like this in the future, where an action is questionable, and the program will clear it with the compliance dept. He's felt the sting of the NCAA's paddle, and I don't see how a program that applies the penalties the NCAA requires, would draw their ire.

It is their job to be professional. This isn't the Jerry Springer show, folks. Conducting themselves with a vendetta can incur a multi-million dollar lawsuit. The NCAA is already on the ropes with the alignment of these super-conferences.

not mad - just reminding him of the Randy Shannon announcement

Comparing me and this guy is comical.

And if you're still torn up about RS, which like it or not, was happening, then get over it.

If you are STILL hurt over it, then simply ignore myself, Skeeter, LWS, OCI, DP, SBV and everyone else that provided YOU and everyone else factual information that we didn't have to. We won't lose any sleep over it--promise.

I'm a Tresselite for sure.

The man can flat coach.. Anyone that says he cantis fooling themselves.

I agree with the above poster, Tressel and OSU for that matter was delt a blow that they didnt deserve. It wasnt like the players cheated to win.

So instead of ND competing against an equally undefeated foe they have to play a 1 loss SEC team.

go Vols, no matter what.

Jim Tressel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

On December 20, 2011 the NCAA placed Ohio State on an additional one year's probation and banned it from postseason play in 2012 for numerous major violations under Tressel's watch. It also imposed a five-year show-cause penalty on Tressel, which means any NCAA member that wants to hire him would have to "show cause" for why it shouldn't be sanctioned for hiring him, and could face severe penalties if he commits any further violations during that time. The order stands until December 19, 2016; given past precedent, it will likely have the effect of blackballing Tressel from the coaching ranks until the 2017 season. If Tressel ever coaches again during this period, he will be suspended for the first five games of the regular season, plus any conference championship game or bowl game. The NCAA came down particularly hard on Tressel because he'd had four chances to tell the truth and failed to do so. Among other things, he claimed that he didn't come forward because he believed doing so would jeopardize a federal drug investigation involving Rife

We just have to explain why we hired him and how we would restrict him. He's hireable, but I do think he has a 5 game suspention to work out.

I will never get the 4 seconds of my life back that I spent reading this title. I could have spent those 4 seconds being useful and looking at the "Girls of" threads.
