Gruden Over-rated / Jones Under-rated

Butch will be the better college coach in my opinion. Gruden didn't want us and Butch wanted us, so let's support him and move on from our man crushes of Gruden.

I will agree that Gruden was possibly a bit overrated and way over-hyped. Jury's still out on Coach Jones. I think the first sign of expected things to come will be a function of the staff he assembles.

I'm not sure what the love affair with Gruden is all about, I remember when Miami fans were acting just as ridiculous as Tennessee fans about Gruden, before they hired Golden. In my opinion both programs dodged a bullet by not ending up with someone who is only interested in a part-time job.

Ive said it in a previous post. I think Jon Gruden and the bs around him has done far more harm to UT football than he ever will good.

I was one of many wanting Gruden but im glad we wound up with Jones.

If Jon Gruden would have came here this and many other forums would have been full of so much smack talk towards other teams it would be pathetic. Then when those teams beat us it would have all came back in our faces.

Jones wins the Vols 2 or more NC here at Tennessee. Book it!

I wouldn't go that far, but I do think that he is hungry! I hope that he can pull it off though! Im still impressed that he went to see a recruit play last night! I love that he hit the ground running! I also read somewhere that he called Tee Martin already, too! If infact true, I hope that they can work it out for Tee to get back to K-town!

This is the guy I wanted from the beginning as stated in the November thread entitled "Butch Jones". I am stoked! This is the black diamond in the rough. I really believe that several years from now, UT will hold him in high esteem, similar to Peyton Manning. Just wait

4 and 5 star players!! That's the deal with Gruden!

I just started a separate post on the recruiting forum about next steps. I was curious to understand what happens next. Dudes going to be busy assembling his staff, meeting with current players, meeting with commits, evaluating commits/prospects, etc. Sounds to me he's making the right moves (i.e. talking to recruits and T)

After watching the 2:30 presser yesterday what I saw was Coach that will do extremely well in the living room of a recruit, in the locker room of our team and on the field coaching our guys UP!

Would'nt you come play for this guy? Smart, intense, a teacher and a motivator!

The first truly important sign will be recruiting. The life blood of any program.

Just my thoughts... if he can get the meeting, he will win over the parents and the player. At the very least he will make it extremely difficult for them to tell him no. Dude has more fire and charisma than James Franklin, and look how he's done at Vandy. He sold most of the press after his first press conference.

From this point on, the Tide begins to wash back out to sea. Bama's reign coming to an end! Not next year, but soon...very soon!:dance2:

I can't see Jones winning over top recruits since he will be going against the likes of Saban, Spurrier, Miles and Richt. Time will tell at the time of LOI signings.
