One still wonders what the actual implications are going to be. There's LOTS of room to decide what you can and can't have and when and where you can have it. Having the individual right confirmed is still a good thing though.

As for the person wondering what to buy the "try before choosing" advice was spot on if you have a way to do that. Another thing to consider is if you are planning on ever getting a permit to carry. I've got several weapons appropriate for home defense but only a couple that you would want to carry on your person without having to really dress for it.

Only criminals should have guns!

Like I've said before, the critics of this say it was meant for a militia blah blah blah, so according to them, this is the only part of the Constitution that isn't about individual rights. All the others seem to be (freedom of religion, press etc).

Amazing. Here are some quotes from some liberal leaders.

"I am profoundly disappointed in Justice Roberts and Justice Alito, both of whom assured us of their respect for precedent. With this decision, 70 years of precedent has gone out the window. And I believe the people of this great country will be less safe because of it."
- Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.

"Today, President Bush's radical Supreme Court justices put rigid ideology ahead of the safety of communities in New Jersey and across the country. This decision illustrates why I have strongly opposed extremist judicial nominees and will continue to do so in the future."
- Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J.

If they're really that disappointed, they need to be distributing more copies of that fill-in-the-blank Constitution they use so everyone will have one.

Wow, 5-4. This is a reason to vote for McCain if you have no other, to keep Obama from nominating judges.

Meh... even though I hate 5-4 rulings (which we have seen a lot of in the past 8 years), that gives me no reason to vote for McCain...

If Gore had been elected the ruling would have probably been reversed without Bush's 2 appointee's on the court. Thats one of the few postive things about Bush's legacy.

Sure it does. If Obama is Pres and gets to nominate a judge, you will see 5-4s in the other direction.

Are you feeling ok? You just gave credit to Bush for something.
