Gun sales way up.

He should be charged with breaking and entering. That is what this man did. Those were his actions.

Why wonder at that? Is our justice system based on prosecuting speculative crime?

Whatever, the headline would have been a lot different and you know it.
The video said he was charged with burglary but text says murder. Who cares, pos is off the street.

anyone catch that she's 18yo with a 3mo baby and her dead husband was 58? Must have been a very well-timed wedding

I know it's really not relevant to the story but anyway

When I'm 58 I plan to marry an 18 year old straight out of high school. Is that weird?

While we're making observational asides anyone else catch the 21 minutes on 911? The idea some people have about calling the cops and expecting them to get somebody there in time to save your arse bewilders me. You are going to be your first, and quite likely only, line of defense.

might get there faster if you claim you already shot the intruder

Police and sheriffs do what they can, within their resources and training, to help people in crisis. Crisis of all kinds.

But people need to understand that they are not Superman and that they are not insurers of everyone's safety. It simply doesn't work that way.

Which is exactly why citizens need the second ammendment.

And, possibly, more secure houses...

Old Roman houses were walled compounds. There was one entrance guarded by a guard and a dog. The inside of the compounds opened up to atriums. This was the Roman 'yard'.

The amount of large, ground level windows on houses throughout America is certainly intriguing and, while I in know way blame homeowners, it is inviting burglars.

I can only assume the Roman houses you refer to were for the "upper level" people. It's hard to imagine John Q Roman could afford that. Rich people now also have gated walls/guards/dogs/security systems. (or at least access to such)

I agree that most houses aren't built with any great thought going into "hard" security. (as opposed to alarms etc)

most local ones are just revenue collectors for their city/county. Anyone that views the police as real crime prevention is not really being honest with themselves

The poor did not have houses. The lived in crappy rooms in buildings that routinely burned down.
