I think the point may have been that the 3rd down spot would have changed the 4th down spot and possibly the play call.
I'm more bothered by the early game hold that was not called on Gurley's first good run compared with the ridiculous call on North. I'm bothered more by the double standard on holding in that game more than any other thing with the officials.
Subconsciously maybe, but I have to disagree that the refs are part of some SEC mafia that is out for money. If they were in it for money, I doubt they would have been refs. They are normal people like me and you. They get graded after every game and also reprimanded for bad calls.
I don't think there's a conspiracy. Just bias. Many if the most biased media members are those in denial if their bias.
Same with officials. All of us to one degree or another see what we expect to see and ignore what we don't expect
I think there's probably something to that. It's there, but no way is it a coordinated effort.
Complaining about calls is part of the game. We all get that. But if the correct call is made on the fair catch AND Gurley gets an accurate spot, I've got a feeling the outcome would have been different.
On the fair catch, the ball was over the receiver's head and inside of the "fire" area. He was doing what he was taught to do and getting away from the ball and two players collided in that process. He was not a receiver and there was no penalty. I'll have to look at the Gurley spot and not depend on two frames. Neither of those calls took points off the board like the phantom holding call when we played at USCe. The league acknowledged that the call was in error when they took away the TD. Those are the calls that you can really complain about.

How about the ridiculous no call on North's push off in the end zone for the late TD? Did you factor that one in?
You mean the one where your guy had the other receiver in a bear hug?
I don't like the hand checking being allowed. North did push off. The defender was hand checking him too
My answer is I would like to see that called but only after calls on DBs tighten up
That's reasonable, I just don't want to see it get so one sided the way the NFL is trying to do. WRs can do no wrong but if a DB gets too close to the WR, there is a flag thrown. That stuff is getting ridiculous too. On that play, North is so physically strong it doesn't take much of a push off for a smaller DB to move 4 yards away.
