Haha oh Lane Kiffin?

If it werent for Kiffin, we wouldnt have Bray. Never seen so many butthurt fools in my life.

To be fair, Scroggins was in the fold and he has done alright. Tennessee probably would have been okay at QB if they took him and left it at that.

What could have been really bad is if Kiffin got his first two choices. Heaps is seriously bad and Scroggins is untested. Maybe Scroggins would have worked out? Idk. What we do know is that Boyd has been better than Heaps and Kiffin ran off Boyd with Heaps as his first choice.

Bray turned out awesome but he wouldn't be here if Kiffin could have gotten Heaps or Scroggins. Heaps/Brown would have been the worst 5* combo in the history of college football.

So UT offered a coach over $4 million per year? That is certainly news to me.

I was a little mistaken but we basically did offer a raise.

For those fans who have asked was negotiation on our side as it related to Lane remaining our head coach—he did not ask for that. I specifically asked him, is that a matter of contract negotiations, do I need to be discussing your contract? As many of you know, he deferred his contract discussion as we came out of the regular season to finish up the recruiting season. He said it was not about the money; it was about that particular job and his interest in that particular job.

Point being, he didn't leave because he got a raise.

He may be all the things that we all think about him, but he's gonna win a bunch of NCs at USC. That program will rise dramatically when their sanctions are over.

Absolutely. And not to defend Kiffin directly, but all those who condemn him so vehemently put yourselves in his shoes for a moment. I know if I were the head coach at Notre Dame or Texas or (insert any big name program you choose here) and UT called with the Big Orange HC job, there would be a flame trail headed toward Knoxville before my last yee haaaaa faded into the ether. He went to his heart, and I cannot blame him for doing that. Unfortunate for Big Orange Country, but understandable. Now, Orgeron calling the kids and telling them not to go to class... THAT is something worthy of hatred and despise.

I can only imagine what this place would have been like if the Internet existed when Dickey left UT for UF.

You do realize Dickey was at Tennessee for 6 seasons , not one and done. He also played for Florida. If Lane was here for 6 good years and left to coach Fresno State (the place he attended and played for) , I can promise you the reaction would not be like the one he got running off after one season. Even if he left for SC after doing things the right way at Tennessee , things would have been different. Dickey was 46–15–4 at Tennessee. Lane was 7-6 and bolted 2 weeks before signing day. He also had his staff on campus calling our recruits telling them not to go to class. You can't even compare the 2 situations. It's the mess Lane left behind and the things his assistants did on the way out. It's a blessing that he is gone , but understand it's not because he left. It's the way he left.

You said this much better than I.

Pretty Ridiculous how much you guys hate him. True, he was a horrible guy at UT, but he doesn't deserve this much abuse.

I mean, I think Billy G was a crappy coach for UK. But we dont constantly rail him.

The difference is that you replaced him with a better coach. You're winning now so it's easy to forget...while I do think it's time to move on...part of the problem is that UT is not winning much. It's easier to forget a past coach when your doing well with the current one.

I thought of that..but still...hardly anyone even dislikes him. Generally we just say "He wasnt a good fit" and then they stop.

But no, this is going to far here. Wish a guy good luck...
