I saw another article where Dan had applied for that name for an Arena Football team at one point as well, so I think that's mostly what they're basing it off ofThe name Warriors is fine, but the reason people want to use that name is because it would allow them to keep the Native American imagery, feathers, arrows, etc. which they most certainly should not be doing. Regardless, I don't think this is true given that the Daily Caller is the one and only source.
AI think the Native American logo will go along with the name. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a feather or arrow (like GTFO)The name Warriors is fine, but the reason people want to use that name is because it would allow them to keep the Native American imagery, feathers, arrows, etc. which they most certainly should not be doing. He’s not being honored because he owned slaves. I have to think if that’s really all you can reduce him to it’s an indication that you might not actually like America very much. Since he serves as a symbol of so many things which make this country great. It’s deranged to think that by him being on Mt Rushmore or honored elsewhere that it promotes the idea of slavery or encourages racism. You didn’t answer the question. Are people who own slaves good people? Why should we honor slave owners?
This is an e-mail sent to Clarence Page of the Chicago Tribune after an article he published concerning a name change for the Washington Redskins.
Dear Mr. Page: I agree with our Native American population. I am highly jilted by the racially charged name of the Washington Redskins. One might argue that to name a professional football team after Native Americans would exalt them as fine warriors, but nay, nay. We must be careful not to offend, and in the spirit of political correctness and courtesy, we must move forward.
Let's ditch the Kansas City Chiefs, the Atlanta Braves and the Cleveland Indians. If your shorts are in a wad because of the reference the name Redskins makes to skin color, then we need to get rid of the Cleveland Browns.
The Carolina Panthers obviously were named to keep the memory of militant Blacks from the 60's alive. Gone. It's offensive to us white folk.
The New York Yankees offend the Southern population. Do you see a team named for the Confederacy? No! There is no room for any reference to that tragic war that cost this country so many young men's lives. I am also offended by the blatant references to the Catholic religion among our sports team names. Totally inappropriate to have the New Orleans Saints, the Los Angeles Angels or the San Diego Padres.
Then there are the team names that glorify criminals who raped and pillaged. We are talking about the horrible Oakland Raiders, the Minnesota Vikings, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Pirates!
Now, let us address those teams that clearly send the wrong message to our children. The San Diego Chargers promote irresponsible fighting or even spending habits. Wrong message to our children.
The New York Giants and the San Francisco Giants promote obesity, a growing childhood epidemic. Wrong message to our children. The Cincinnati Reds promote downers/barbiturates. Wrong message to our> children.
The Milwaukee Brewers. Well that goes without saying. Wrong message to our children.
So, there you go. We need to support any legislation that comes out to rectify this travesty, because the government will likely become involved with this issue, as they should. Just the kind of thing the do-nothing Congress loves.
As a die-hard Oregon State fan, my wife and I, with all of this in mind, suggest it might also make some sense to change the name of the Oregon State women's athletic teams to something other than "the Beavers (especially when they play Southern California. Do we really want the Trojans sticking it to the Beavers?
I always love your articles and I generally agree with them. As for the Redskins name I would suggest they change the name to the "Foreskins" to better represent their community, paying tribute to every last dick-head in Washington D.C.

Back to the team, they shouldn’t change their name because of a bunch of woke libs who are offended on behalf of other people- as is the norm. They can take it up w Native American communities. Perhaps they can partner to raise funds w jersey sales or something that will go towards charities which serve native Americans. Simply changing the name won’t actually do jack **** to improving anyone’s life it just gives the woke mob personal validation
forgot about this team Cleve In The Eve: Blackhawks defend their name

What are yo doing? About the same as everyone else I'm sureJust because it won’t improve anyone’s actual life in the concept of what you’re using still doesn’t make it okay to have an offensive name. If I call someone a slur to their face, I’m technically not hurting their quality of life. I’m not affecting their income, their physical health or their status in life. It’s just a word being said. But it’s still not okay because it’s rude and indecent and we should treat other humans better than that. And considering what this country did to Native Americans (basically committing genocide against their people) I can understand why they don’t feel comfortable seeing their imagery and symbols used by white owners/power brokers at major colleges and not thinking its all just in fun and saying it’s a way to “honor” them.
And Synder could definitely do that with his new memorabilia sales! That’s a great idea. Donate 15% of all new memorabilia sales to Native American causes when they get a new name and logo. I’m sure if Snyder did something like that you’d be line to buy one since you’re so very concerned about the improvement of Native Americans lives since you keep bringing it up, right?

And I don't mean it in a negative way. It's just the whole situation right now.
Oh, I can almost gauran-got-dang-tee you if sports had continued on during this whole FIASCO, things would be much different.
Most aren'tNo you’re right. Unfortunately I’m not in much of a position to do anything. And my point was more that I doubt he actually cares about the Native American plight, he’s just mad because he thinks the world is too PC and keeps saying that changing the name won’t do anything to improve lives as a reason to keep the name which is silly.
And that might be the case, but it’s not like this has never been brought up. People have been trying to get the name change since the 70’s.
AI think the Native American logo will go along with the name. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a feather or arrow (like GTFO)
I'd imagine (if he were smart), that he'd try to at least keep a name with R (though Redtails and Red Wovles are both meh at best).
