Hail to the Washington Commanders

If he would've shown up for camp and OTA's he wouldn't be in this predicament.

Exactly. He dug his grave... Shanny is just making him dig it deeper with this. He's sending the right message:

"I'm the HMFIC here. Not you."

Also, Shanny's treatment of a 2 time All-Pro player has effectively sent this message to the entire team.

I'm starting to get excited for this season. I'm not expecting much, but at the very least - this team will bring something different to the table and it appears we're heading in a better direction.

Absolutely. This is a completely different team, that seems to be meshing well. I see the skins 5-3 or 6-2 by November and could start out @ 4-0

Also

Colt Brennan has been released, because the Redskins have acquired QB John Beck from Baltimore in exchange for CB Doug Dutch and Grossman has looked good

The atmosphere feels, in some ways, like Gibbs 2.0 did after the Spurrier era.

Also, geeze. Brennan didn't have much of a chance. I suspect Malcolm Kelly might be gone soon too.

If this is Rex we're talking about, don't be fooled:

If MS lets him play even though he doesn't pass his conditioning tests like I saw on NFL Live this afternoon I don't think that's the message he'll be sending. Haynesworth is embarassing himself.

Hogs Haven Interview with Redskins Owner Dan Snyder: Part II - Hogs Haven

Good interview with Snyder. He is starting to grow on me

Some highlights:

DAN: I'm as excited as they are. I was actually on vacation when I got the phone call from Bruce Allen about McNabb and that it looked like it was a real possibility. We're at this dinner thing and we had Bernard Shaw with us and some other folks and my family and we're all there, and I go, "Please, don't make a joke. Are you making a joke? Don't make a joke." Like everyone else how many times, when people first found out, they were like, "No, you're just playing with me."

HH: I didn't think it was real.

DAN: Right, we didn't think it was real, and my first reaction was, "Come on, don't play with me." And Bruce says, "No, no...this is serious stuff. By the way, where's the airplane?" And I'm like..."OK..."

HH: Time to gas up the jet!

DAN: Yeah, he was talking about going to get him. And I was like, "Wow...far out!"

We notice that you have really coveted Mike Shanahan for a long time.

DAN: If only he was available two years ago. That would have been...man, would have changed all those bad things you said about me.

HH: You even joked with Pat Bowlen that you were going to steal his coach.

DAN: (chuckles) I didn't say 'steal'...I said trade me your coach. I always told Pat, "Trade me your coach!"
HH: What was it about him a decade ago that made him stand out to you?

DAN: Well I got a chance to know him. I actually met him 11 years ago. When I first bought the team in '99, I decided to go to the Pro Bowl which was in Hawaii, and I took my dad, my mom, my best friend Tony Roberts. And we went golfing...really played terrible golf for 5 days. And so we went down there to kind of take a break and in the same hotel was Mike and Peggy (Mike Shanahan's wife). So we ended up all getting together and got a chance to really spend some time together.

Shanny is driving his point home. This conditioning test that Haynesworth is failing is far harder than normal. It depends team-to-team... but most only require a 300 yard shuttle (either 6 50s or 12 25s with rests). Shanny is requiring Haynesworth to run 2 300 yard shuttles. His first failure on Thursday he passed the 1st 300 yards and then went to the bathroom. Shanny thought he took too long and made him start over again and he then passed the 1st (really 2nd) set of 300 yards and failed the 2nd (really 3rd) set of 300.

I'm not saying Haynesworth doesn't deserve it but he's being set up to fail. He crossed the HFC and Manager and has been a huge moneysink and distraction to a reforming team. But, from what players have reported, Haynesworth is in noticeably better shape (apparently down 30-40 lbs from last year putting him around 300-310).
I am doing the test tonight, and if I pass it. Haynesworth is pathetic

Surprise surprise. There is nothing wrong with Fat Albert's knee after the MRI.

Worst of luck to him.

it could still just he gets too much strain on his knees from running longer distances with all that weight he's carrying.

It messed with my knees back when I was heavy.

With his character and work ethic I would think the MRI was scheduled to give him an excuse.

I'm not giving that guy any excuses. It was obvious he didn't do anything over the offseason to prepare for the upcoming season.

i'm not excusing him either; it's his fault both for not exercising and he's getting this now for those fussy demands he was making

I can just relate that being heavy impacts your knees alot while running. Now I only got up to 240s....the 330s on a knee I can't imagine ending well alot of the time in distance running....not injury but the runner feels the pressure (it's almost a bit of an irony: running loses weight the quickest but it's much harder to run lengthy distances with alot of extra weight)

(part of that btw is why i think the espn comparison was bs since a 60lb lighter golic probably runs or exercises each day if he's been keeping off the 40-50lbs he claims he lost on nutrisystem)

I definitely understand your point. And it's a valid one.

Haynesworth passed his conditioning test. Still pretty pathetic that he had to take this many times.

But:

Merely passing the test took enough of a toll to keep Haynesworth from making it through a full practice. After doing some defense drills — like blocking sleds and recovering fumbles — he had a huge wrap put on his persistently sore left knee midway through the session and became a spectator again during the offense-versus-defense team drills.
