Hail to the Washington Commanders

If you think you are the worst team in the NFL, watch the panthers play

hell, they could beat the skins... time to get the tat covered up.. sick of years of disappointment, and no signs of improvement.... ughhh. we haven't been good since Snyder bought the team.

I didn't catch the ending explanation of why the Redskins appeared to get a Colorado esque 5th down. What exactly happened? I thought the game was over after the incomplete pass.

Either way, the Redskins found a way to lose.

I saw it live on Redzone. I wound back my DVR to confirm they received 5 downs.

I just saw the highlights on NFL Network. On 1st and 10 at the 12, the dummy with the sticks only stretched the chain out 9 yards. The line to gain was placed at the 3 instead of the 2. So, when they got 9 yards on 1st down, the refs thought he had gained 10 yards, and marked it first and goal. But, Fox's yellow line was correct, so TV thought (correctly) that it should have been 2nd and 1. The officials obviously should be disciplined after this stupidity. But, after seeing how it went down, yeah, the Skins got 5 downs, but their play-calling was based on it having been 1st and goal at the 3. We don't know for sure that they wouldn't have scored had the down/distance been marked correctly.

It was funny to see Fox indicate under the little scoreboard, 2nd and 1, 3rd and 1, 4th and 4, and then not indicate anything on the last play.

Yes, they did. They were at the 12. Then, they were at the 3. Then, they ran 4 more plays.

The refs said 1st and goal at the 3 instead of 2nd and 1. The only thing the announcers did that was disappointing was when they stopped questioning the refs at the beginning of "5th down." They waited until during the commercial break to look into it.

It seems like every recap article on the game isn't mentioning this. I hope the NFL admits this tomorrow and punishes these officials. Big thumbs down to every media outlet that left the 5 downs out of their stories. 12-3=9!

I think I'm finally gonna have to ditch the Skins this off-season.......I just can't take it any longer

+1000. ive been a life long fan, i was born there. i thought things would be different this year, a new coach, one that has won a super bowl and knows what he is doing. but here we are again, one of the worse teams in the NFL. this is getting ridiculous, year after year, new coach, same result. i think after all this time, after all these years, im finally done. there is no hope in sight, not at least from what i can see. time to finally hang up my fandom for the skins.:cray:

FOX announcers believed Redskins scored on a fifth down - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

Thanks to confusion in the FOX announcing booth, viewers watching Sunday's game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Redskins thought a potential game-tying touchdown occurred on an extra "fifth" down.

No They Didnt

Don't do it. ....Even though I know you wont.

If Lions fans can hang on in the face of futility, so can you. I'm looking for our first lombardi, your team has 3.

.....deal.

This team isn't the same as last years. Snyder has taken a step back and Shanny and Allen are having to fight years of mismanagement. It will take them at least another 2 full off-seasons (both through draft and FA) to get the Skins to championship form.

I dont want Mallett, I think he is Heath Shuler 2.0

QB isnt really our problem. I would be happy using our 1st round on Newton, but we need some help on the DL and OL and RB and WR. Orakpo needs a partner

Newton is Mcnabb 2.0, imo

Maybe... but he would be the young version of McNabb. ....and I've yet to see Newton fire wormburners on a regular basis.

i just dont understand how this team can have no talent at all. line is the worst ive ever seen. no rb's, no wr's, mcnabb, i was happy at he beginning of the year, but it looks like he checked out weeks ago. they should of traded portis 4 years ago when he was worth something, he cant last more than 5 games without getting hurt.defense..... i dont know what the heck they are trying to do. example : colts game, looked like they were in the prevent the first half. i couldnt believe what i was seeing..ughhhh. damn you jack kent cook for dying...

I probably won't.....but that last of the 3 was when I was 8.....its becoming more and more of a possibility every year that I finally let go of them.....only problem is I don't know who I'd root for

We have little talent b/c we have failed multiple times in FA and our 2007-2009 Draft picks have been busts. Its going to take years to fix

What we've learned, 12-14-10 | Washington Examiner

2. The offensive line has done a solid job protecting quarterback Donovan McNabb the past two weeks » The consecutive losses can't be pinned on them, even if they allowed four sacks vs. the New York Giants. But against the Giants they gave McNabb plenty of time to throw and Sunday they created numerous cutback lanes and huge holes for running back Ryan Torain, at least in the first half. They still struggle against strong defensive tackles, so upgrades remain necessary and RT Jammal Brown's mobility is still an issue. But give them credit for improved play.

3. The Redskins draft classes from 2007-09 are a big reason why this team continues to struggle » Washington had 21 picks in those three seasons combined, and only two of those selections are considered front-line starters -- safety LaRon Landry and linebacker Brian Orakpo. And only one other player is currently a starter -- struggling free safety Kareem Moore. Only nine players even remain with the organization (with two of them on injured reserve and another on the practice squad). It's impossible to have more than fleeting success with such a record.

4 As well as running back Ryan Torain has played this season, it's hard to get excited about his future because he still has to prove he can stay healthy » It's a shame, too, because he's now averaging 4.9 yards per carry and has shown a lot of promise. He's big enough to break arm tackles at the line and he's doing a nice job of pressing the hole, planting and cutting. He had several such cuts Sunday, leading to big gains. Torain is a much better runner than he was in the summer, and it would be interesting to see how good he could be if he stayed healthy for an extended period of time.
