Harbaugh To Michigan - Updated - It's official (merged)

I'll say it again, Harbaugh is UM's Johnny Majors. I love Coach Majors but he took a while to get things rolling and the peak wasn't a national championship the way we thought it would be. And we learned it is very difficult to fire a legend...if things don't turn around the way they expect, will they be stuck with him forever?

Even if that is the case, he'll take them to national relevance and will build the foundation for a natl championship. What's wrong with that? That's exactly what they're paying for.

Who directed one of the worst offensive lines (and offenses) in college football this year. His next good offense will be his first.

wasnt too serious about Franklin, but he does have a high ranked class for 15 - I didnt bother to look at what he recruited though

I love how a Big East co championship is considered a championship here, but an NFC Championship, an ACTUAL championship, is not.

VolNation logic.

Who said CBJ is a proven championship level coach? He has potential which cannot be denied, yet.

I think all of this BS got started with
1 douche claiming CBJ owed all of his success to following a championship level coach. That non-sense had to be crushed.

Considered that route but I knew I'd hear how NFL divisional titles are like celebrating East titles. You know what everyone here knocks Richt for. So I refrained.

Tell me what program he took over that was struggling and turned them around, at this point?

He took over a program that was coming off back to back BCS bowls and couldn't win an outright title. That's a regression. I think Cincy fans would take CBK's on the field results over CBJ's, if they have half a brain they would.

It had to be crushed yet you've provided nothing of substance to refute it. You said he's recruited well, that's it.

Hell the league might have improved, I don't know why he couldn't win outright big east titles. Why can't Saban win the SEC every year?

What I don't get is this puppy love for Kelly? He won two BE titles and got crushed in every BCS bowl game he coached in. So just what the hell makes him so much better that CBJ?

I did provide the stats showing CBK has never beaten an SEC team.

It's not nonsense. He's never taken an awful team and made them worth anything. He has done the opposite.

He's faced 3, one while at CMU which is a bigger disadvantage than a BE team facing the SEC. Butch has faced 16 cause he coaches in the conference. You think Kelly is 0-16 in 2 years if he's coaching in the SEC? That's your logic.

I would hope someone who's had 6x the opportunity to get an SEC win would get at least one. I have no love for BK, just pointing out the paths they have in common CBK was more successful than CBJ. One was 34-6 and one was 23-14. That's not love, that's facts. Sorry you refuse to differentiate between the two.

You guys need to learn more about Butch. Butch did not inherit Brian Kelly's 12-1 team. Most of the good players on those teams were gone when Butch came because they graduated. Jones started with almost nothing his first year. Especially nothing in the trenches. Jones had to recruit and coach the bad talent Kelly recruited to be able to go 9-3 in his second year.

Oh, we were pretty awful and he's only had 2 seasons. Kind of an unfair comparison.
We were pretty awful in that we had a roster without any athletic freaks and a losing mentality. James Franklin won 9 twice with a roster much the same as the one we've had the past two years. The gap between us and Alabama is massive. The gap between us and the likes of Vandy, South Carolina, Mizzou, and Ole Miss is absolutely manageable. The gap between us and Oklahoma was manageable, too. Butch is 2-0 vs Spurrier, and that's a good job. Losing to Vanderbilt last year, the way we've lost to Missouri both years, and the way we've lost to Florida both years are embarrassing, and even moreso, damning.

BTW, Brian Kelly just beat a ranked SEC team.

Just because SR's graduated doesn't mean he inherited some mess. He still inherited a stable, winning program that basically kept the same scheme in tact. Teams that have 3 straight 10+ win seasons don't suddenly have dumpster fire on their hands.

All hail Brian Kelly!

I'm sure ND and UM appreciates a couple new fans.

ESPN is killing me by mentioning Franklin w/ Harbaugh, Meyer and Dantoni. Meyer 2 NC's, Harbaugh PAC 12 Championship and went to a Super Bowl, Dantonio won Rose Bowl and back to back Big 10 Championships....Franklin ..beat Tennessee twice, Florida once and painted his face like a tiger...hmmmm

Its not that you are just touting their achievements, you are trashing OUR coach while youre doing it.

Saying Butch didn't make a BCS bowl or win an outright title like Kelly is trashing him? Did he accomplish as much as Kelly did in their respective tenures? If you say yes you're lying. If you say no, you're trashing him.

I'll make myself clear, I don't care about Butch. I care about UT and UT winning and hope he can do it, cause that means we're winning fairly soon. If he doesn't get it done, then I hope the next guy does. Just like I had hoped Kiffin would do and Dooley would do. I don't care who it is that gets us winning. Just do it and do it the right way, on and off the field without embarrassing my alma mater.

Brian Kelly did not even try to recruit at Cincy. Kelly was three and done at Cincy no matter what. Butch had a dumpster fire roster his first year.

He knew 3 years in advance he had another job coming?

Cincinnati returned 13 starters in 2010, including 4 all Big East selections from 2009.
