Harris Talks BBM, Visits.

Not many. Irving choosing to pass on those options to play for Hewitt would rate right up there with Allan Houston spurning Louisville to come play for his father on the Scale Of Illogical Decisions.

There is where you are wrong. It happens quite often.

No, it doesn't. Fooling a guy advised by the Keith Easterwoods of the world is one thing. Pulling the wool over the eyes of guys with Torrel Harris and Bob Hurley looking out for them is a whole other matter.

Hewitt obviously has their attention. We'll see how it plays out.

I'm going to keep hope alive that Tobias Harris will commit to UT for some unkown reason.

Don't know much about the first two. But post-Camby and Pre-Rose, what other player did Cal develop that went on to have success in the NBA?
He was in the NBA for four years, thus there's a period where he wasn't coaching collegians. They haven't been stars, but Antonio Burks and Earl Barron have both gotten NBA checks and DaJuan Wagner was a lottery pick. That doesn't factor in Amare and Quyntell Woods both signing with Memphis, then bypassing college. CDR and Dorsey also went from decent players to pros under Cal's watch.

That's what I'm trying to figure out.. what connections, plan, development skills did he have to convince Amare and Rose to sign with Memphis?

I guess I'm also confused because in the last 10 years, there has been WAY more attractive schools and coaches for recruits. And then all of a sudden Cal lands the top player in the country and all of a sudden he is the hottest coach in the nation, even without a ring on his finger..

I just can't imagine why Rose would be more attracted to Cal and Memphis over some of the coaches and schools up north that were having success just a few years ago.

Didn't say it did. However, if you think Amare doesn't talk up Cal to recruits, dream on.

What does he say? If I were a top guard from the metro/north area I would also like to hear what Deron Williams has to say about Illinois, Greg Oden and Mike Conley has to say about Thad Matta, and I would keep an ear open to what Shannon Brown, Mo Pete, Zach Randolph and Jason Richardson have to say about Izzo

I'm confident Izzo doesn't want Z Bo speaking on his behalf.

As to the original post of this thread, KSR had a good interview with Tobias after his BBM experience.

Torrel told me a story about Tobias’ earlier trip to Maryland’s Midnight Madness two years ago, where Gary Williams came driving out in a White Lamborghini. That trip left a lasting impression on the younger Harris, but after Friday night’s experience, Torrel asked his son, “Out of all your visits to Midnight Madnesses, which one is your favorite?” Tobias quickly answered that Kentucky’s Big Blue Madness had now taken over the top spot.

Here’s some of the other highlights of our discussion:

DR: What all did you guys do through your first day there on Friday?

Torrel Harris: We got there on Friday. Then after the Madness, we didn’t really do nothing. We went back to the hotel and Tobias went and played ping-pong......

Kentucky Sports Radio Blog Archive Torrel Harris Talks With Us About His Son’s Visit to UK’s Big Blue Madness

The rest of the interview is interesting as well. His father gushed about Cal, which is not suprising I guess. Of course favorite Midnight Madness does not equal favorite school, because its more of a production than anything. Father still thinks he announce before Nov 18 signing period.

The same things LBJ says. "If I were going to college, I'd play for Cal."

Nothing wrong with that. I guess it only helps his cause when WWW comes in after that and explains how he can get them a 90 million dollar contract with Nike in the future just like Lebron

Question: Why can Cal use those guys as a feather in his cap but Hewitt can't use Young?

Clearly Cal is superior as a coach

I didn't say he couldn't. He can brag all he wants about failing miserably with Chris Bosh, Crittenden, Young, et al.

The difference is Cal can use Marcus Camby Derrick Rose and Tyreke Evans and then say "And I also got these guys on NBA rosters..."

that sells better than using Thaddeus Young as your top gun

I believe both are in the league making a substantial amount of money.

Regardless-- that's not the point, Hat. Do you have to redirect the argument every time you're proven wrong? I'd like to hear you admit, just once, that you're wrong.

:)

Will not happen. My first run in when I realized what a pompous and absurd man I was dealing with was when he made a statement of fact in derision regarding something I said,
"No one is making millions playing in Turkey."

I then linked a news story about a player making millions in Turkey.

He never admitted he was wrong, he put me on ignore he said, although he still responds to what I post and appears in the threads I create quite regularly.
