I didn't say he couldn't. He can brag all he wants about failing miserably with Chris Bosh, Crittenden, Young, et al.

But, it doesn't really matter what the truth is if you can provide some evidence and spin it as truth to the right kid.

Kiffin does the same thing to recruits now by dropping names like Bush, Lendale White, Palmer, Leinart etc regardless if he was responsible for their development or not.

I would imagine there are plenty of kids with NBA dreams that could care less the team record as long as they get to the NBA and get paid.

If that were the case, a whole lot more topflight guys would be going to play for guys like Steve Fisher and Ernie Kent.

Not now that they've flamed out. Hewitt can ride that train until it rolls off the tracks.

Then when he gets a lower level job he won't have that to sell.

Kent has got the same job he's had. Fisher has one of the best arenas in college basketball at his disposal. If guys don't care about winning, they can go play for those guys and take 25 shots a night without any fear their coach might actually get on them.

He wants to play, and be the star. He can there. And obviously, after college it is a little different given that monetary compensation enters the equation.

JJ Hickson and Young and countless others are thinking in monetary terms when picking a school on their way to the NBA.

These are guys that would enter the draft no matter what they should do if the one-year rule wasn't in place.

And so... They are going to go where they are going to win and get attention. We've gone in a circle.

Maybe I wasn't clear. The record of the team recruiting the player doesn't always matter.

Ed O stock piled tons of talent on with terrible, terrible records.

Most elite guys have egos and a good recruiter can sell them that they are the difference maker and if we get you we'll win.

The same things LBJ says. "If I were going to college, I'd play for Cal."

Nothing wrong with that. I guess it only helps his cause when WWW comes in after that and explains how he can get them a 90 million dollar contract with Nike in the future just like Lebron

And LBJ would pick a college coach where he knew he'd get paid.

How did Ed O get the talent to Ole Miss without winning?

By the other talent being assembled around them, thus putting them in a position to win. That's why it is hard to get recruiting going at a new school, because you have to get people to "buy in" at first. That's why Coach O is so highly thought of, because he has that ability to get recruits to buy in.
