I can say with complete confidence that Villanova is concerned about Pinkston's chances of qualifying and might end up being less of a threat to Tennessee than Seton Hall or St. John's. If UT doesn't lock him up in the early signing period, they've got problems. That'll give the locals an entire season to work on Jayvaughn.Rob Lewis on VolQuest seems to think UT holds a slight edge in the Harris sweepstakes, and that we have a solid lead with Pinkston. This conclusion was drawn from talking to people from both "camps".
TFWIW
Somewhere in between the two scenarios you posit. Neither of them are leaving after one season, but they'd both be better than Wayne was as a frosh. So someone who knows tell me, just how big would it be if we brought in Pinkston and Harris? Are these guys potential one and done guys, or are they similar to Chism or Kenny Hall in terms of immediate impact?
Yeah Harris would have a bigger impact out of the two but getting both would be absolutley houge but don't hold your breath.Somewhere in between the two scenarios you posit. Neither of them are leaving after one season, but they'd both be better than Wayne was as a frosh.
Every article I've read says he intends to sign late not early. However if we can land Harris I think Pinkston could sign much earlier than planned.I can say with complete confidence that Villanova is concerned about Pinkston's chances of qualifying and might end up being less of a threat to Tennessee than Seton Hall or St. John's. "I'm still on track to sign in the fall," Harris said late Monday night. "I plan on announcing it on the 19th. I want to have it done so I can just focus on my season."
The early signing period opens on Wednesday and runs until Nov. 18. Harris, a 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward who is rated the No. 5 prospect in the Class of 2010, will sign the day before he makes the public announcement. He says he hasn't made his decision yet, only the day he'll announce his choice.
Asked where the Wildcats stood with little more than a week to go before he chooses a school, Harris said "Oh, they're definitely a factor. I really liked my visit a lot, and they have a style of play that really fits me. I liked the players on the team and the school."
Yeah, he made a minor mistake there.
