Harris Update.

I feel for Pac-10 fans.

Here's a question for you. I am under the impression that you have a pretty healthy dislike of both UNC and Isiah Thomas. How did you feel about that game tonight?
Carolina really misses Ty Lawson. FAU will be a middle of the pack Sun Belt team, at best.

Carolina won the game, but not impressively. They will probably be very good by the end of the season, but will struggle some in the early going.

As compared to being unable to develop Tyler Smith enough to get him into the first round of either of the last two drafts?

Is that what they're trying to sell him on? Or are they selling him on how they're using him? I'm not so sure any coach in the country could help Tyler's jumpshot, and Bruce is probably selling Tobias on the fact that he can be even more effective than Tyler with his stroke.

Tyler averaging 15-17 ppg 3-5 assists, and 5-7 rebounds is probably what sticks out more to Tobias than Joe Alexander being a lottery bust and the best example of using Ebanks at point forward is him bringing the ball up court at times.

I don't think they'll be as good as some expect. They just don't play with the same passion that was neccessary a year ago. They were more talented and deeper than FIU, but I noticed they got pushed around a lot in the 'toughness' battles which went their way just about everytime last year.

Alexander got a lot of guaranteed money, and like it or not, Butler and Ebanks handled the ball enough last year that Huggs can sell that. Don't think Harris ends up there regardless.

Tyler is a kid, like many, that is too small to play post in the pro game and not effective enough to play outside. I don't know that any coach could do anything with him to increase his potential for the pro game.

That doesn't change the fact that with his athletic ability, he should have been a 1st round pick one of the last two years. Those drafts were horrendous.

True. But my point is, Tyler and Tobias have a different skill set. Tobias is more of a true point forward then Tyler is and if Tyler can put up those kind of stats in that position then...

I am much more optimistic about Harris than I was two weeks ago. That said, it is still hard for me to see the guy going anywhere but Syracuse.

If Tobias is concerned about making money off of the emphasization (Is that a word) of the point forward position, then honestly he should just go to Italy and make money while he develops.

Hatvol still has his defenders. The man called uconn the leader for tobias harris the day before harris cut them. Linking zagsblog does not make you a helpful recruiting writer. Having no connections to give you insight into a ne prospect when that is supposed to be your bread and butter is pathetic.
Hatvol has more knee jerk reactionary defenders on here than bruce pearl does...I suppose these are the same people who support sanjaya and hate U2.

You are hopeless. When this is all over, I'll tell you what hat has been saying over the course of this. He's not about to put it out here, but he does tell folks thing that can tell him something back or will avoid turning it into War and Peace Redux.

I would be less optimistic if these things didn't keep popping up about him communicating with Pinkston.

I'm really pulling for Tobias. Has a ton of talent and seems like he has a good head on his shoulders. He's a better fit than Tyler is and we really need a guy like this when Chism and Smith roll out. I'm only hoping this guy brings good leadership skills.

Leadership is nice, but I want a guy who kills people on the baseline / block.

Yes indeed! I was looking at who we have returning and the few we picked up (might pickup) and wonder about leadership or who's going to play that role. Kind of scary haha.

We have been leaderless since Lofton, JJSmith and Bradshaw left and it has hurt some. A leader would kick Prince and Chism in the teeth daily.

I thought Tyler was the missing leadership link but that turned out...........greatly. He has always been a "me" first player and was more interesting in bumping his stock. Scotty could never be a leader and I don't know anything about the ATL guards.

Yeah. Accountability to a coach is one thing. Accountability to a vocal leader on your team who keeps everyone in line is another.

Wrong. Tyler Smith obviously isn't a real vocal leader, but he certainly does not seem like a "me" first player. For that, see J.P. Prince.

After Lofton and Jujuan left, he's the one I want having the ball when the games on the line because he does good under pressure but I still disagree. I seen him do too many things last year that obviously was to please the tryout speculations. I agree with Prince though. He makes too many dumb decisions to be a team leader.

What things did you "seen" him do?
