Harrison's condition

I am definitely glad she suspended the players they must play by the rules you can't let players take an inch because then they will believe they can take a mile. The injury is on the Refs they allowed rough play when they should have been stopping it before it happened. A tough blow if Harrison is out hopefully it is was just a sprain.

I am putting it on Warlick. She overreacted to missed classes--if the players are all in great academic standing, as she says--then do you REALLY need to suspend them?--we had no players, and so our best player is on the floor playing over-eager Penn scrub. One of them, who had 8 minutes of playing time, is throwing her body around and injures Harrison. Jones doesn't last 8 minutes in game 1 before bruising her head. There is bad mojo with this coach in more ways than one. I forgot to mention Tucker--we lose her for a year because she decides to live with some dude while in high school and then gets involved in a domestic abuse case, so she can't play. In a week we'll hear that Carter has stepped in a hole while walking to class and twisted her knee.

Were you born with a crap attitude, or did you get a PhD in it?

The major problem was depth at the post positions. We should have a couple more post players on this team. We don't so if she is injured and out we'll have to play some small ball this season. I doubt that works well against SC.

What do you want the coaches to do? They recruit th best big players in the country and those players look at the depth chart and say, I won't get to play there for two-three years. Why would I want to wait at least two years to see the court?

It is going to be a tough year in the post this year and likely next. On the other hand, Moore may turn out to be the best big we have had here in a while. She is running the floor, rebounding, scoring and hitting a huge % of her shots. We have some players who can fill in and rest Moore. Lets hope the injury is not serious, but it looked pretty bad to me.

Russell should be ready to star next year and Moore will have a good year of experience. I would really like to add Brown. She would play at lot as a freshman and would be solid in the post.

Really? It must suck to be you or to have to live around you. Holly just kept in place the same rules that were put in place by a legend and the one driving force that has made women's sports what they are today. That person is Pat Summitt. What you are saying is Pat was stupid for putting those rules in to begin with. Really? You want to go there. :bad:

If it is an ACL, then Izzy gets a medical redshirt, a whole year to recover, and has a chance to prove to WNBA teams that she is back. The very positive side is that next season seems to be the year that we have an excellent chance to get back in the NCAA title hunt, but we all were questioning the post depth with Izzy graduating. If she is out for the season, I hate it for her, because she is a warrior! I hate it for these seniors because she is this teams best player, but in the long run it can be turned into a toughness builder for the younger players, and that will only make next season's team even better.

Let's hope for the best. Don't want another ACL for her.

I know they put out the effort to get the players guess I am used to the way it used to be. Even if we had two or three post players there were always a couple ready to come and join just because we were Tennessee. Sitting on the bench a year or redshirting seemed like something players were eager to do just to be Lady Vols. If we lose Harrison it only hurts us against a handful of teams. Moore has emerged as a player. Burdick is a good rebounder. Seems all the point guards go to the boards especially Reynolds. You get to thinking that you have a great shot at the final four. Harrison is the key player to getting there hopefully she is not out for the season.

They did not miss class. They missed curfew when Holly took them to the Final Four last spring. Holly didn't want to call them out for it, but they did have consequences. Izzy could have had this happen in practice. Don't always look for blame. Life happens sometimes

Really sorry to hear about this - was expecting big things from her this year - here is to hoping it is not that serious but based on the reports from those who saw it ...
I have one question - did she not already have one red-shirt year? If so, I believe there is a 'exception process' required to get her a second - not that arduous but not the same as applying and granting the first one.

On the suspensions - good for Holly - too many college coaches are slack on discipline and especially academic rigor. She came into the game with 8 players which should certainly be plenty for what was not going to be an seriously challenging game and no one can anticipate losing two during a game.

On still having Izzy in the game late - with eight players down to seven you have to have three starters and you have to keep some balance and you need you starters early in the season to get into game shape. Again - no anticipating freak injuries.

And that sounded like a freak injury that is just bad luck - physical play can lead to things like broken noses, but players falling to the ground on top of each other is just dumb luck, like landing on someone else foot for an ankle sprain. You pray it ends up being 'soft tissue on soft tissue' and usually that is all it is.

Armchair is just that. Always knows what's best, no matter the sport. He/she/it must have been a heck of an athlete, with an unbeaten coaching record to boot. SMDH!!!!

Sucks about Izzy...and first game to boot. Hopefully the injury is not serious.

Moore and Graves will have to hold down the low post in the meantime. Moore has put up impressive stats in the exhibition and opener, so hopefully she can continue the good work into the meat of the schedule. Bashaara looks like she's back to her freshman form, so things look promising.

Let's hope the rest of the returning players have upped their games in the offseason as well. The whole team will need to carry the load if Izzy is out for any extended period of time.

Holly didn't take them to the Final Four, they went on their own. Ariel's family is from Middle Tennessee, and she was there with them, as well as her old HS coaches.

Yes, some missed class, and some missed curfew.

Regarding Izzy, likely won't know anything until Monday due to evaluations, xrays, and doctor visits.

Correct because i seen Draya and Cierra there together watching the Notre Dame game. They were sitting with the Notre Dame fans cheering them on.

Maybe this "armchair" will realize in what low regard he is held for his incessant criticism of Holly (and also the coaching of the soccer team). He oozes negativity. What a dismal life.

How can Georgia RB Todd Gurley get hurt yesterday and it already be reported that he tore his ACL, but we haven't heard about Izzy?

You would think preliminary exams would have determined if it was an ACl since they need more information seems that wouldn't be it. You have to worry about sprained knee or bone bruise both will take several weeks to heal. Both are better than an ACL which means out for the season.

That's what I'm thinking. They usually know after the preliminary exam if it's an ACL tear

As much as I like holly and the coaching staff, when it comes to injuries there is an almost immediate silence from the lady vol coaching staff and anyone associated with the university. for some reason, with athletic programs that generate much more money, like football, injury announcements are much quicker. And before posters like this one calling himself deer park come around and start spousing nonsense about privacy issues, let me go ahead and silence him and say the majority of us don't want to know izzy's personal private medical info, we just want to know if she tore her acl or not. Anyhow, I wouldn't hold my breath about finding out if it's an acl or not. I'm guessing when we find out is when she is back on the court

I think a lot of people saw what happened and jumped to the conclusion that it was possibly (even likely, at least in their minds) an ACL injury. The fact is, as bad as it looked, it probably wasn't that level of serious. I'm not sure why anyone believes the coaching staff is obligated to tell the fan base what the injury is NOT, merely because a bunch of people made assumptions. And like it or not, privacy is an issue. As much as fans may feel they "own" the team and as such should be privy to any and all details concerning the team, the fact is, it doesn't work that way, and any reasonable person shouldn't expect it to. Not only that, but outside of a very serious injury (as in, a season ending injury or one that would put the player out for months), I'm not sure the coaching staff would relish the competition knowing their star is going to be sidelined for a significant amount of time.

Frankly, I'm not convinced the injury was a serious as some are making it out to be. I could be wrong, of course. It's quite possible Izzy may be out for a few weeks. Or not. But the way some have been going on as if her season is likely over . . . I just don't think so. Not at all.

Despite the fans desire to know Izzy's status and whether she tore an acl, any fact about her medical condition, including whether she tore an acl, is, in fact, her private medical information and cannot be released absent her consent.

Signs are encouraging that she did not suffer an acl tear, but the fact that she was noticeably limping the day following the injury suggests that she will be out for a while.
