Hart has not even Offered Gruden

glad we don't have moron fans running the hiring... we dealt with a moron during the last hire and we don't need another one. Hart needs to take all the time he needs and make a quality hire. I don't care about the current players wants, desires, etc. or the incoming class. If Hart does it right and hires the right coach... we will not have a problem with recruits or the product on the field.

So Gruden is not the most sought after coach for UT? And we should sit on the thought of hiring him for a few weeks before we think about making him an offer? I don't agree with the slow process when you have a slam dunk hire in Gruden

Monte Kiffin was a slam dunk college hire as well. Moral of the story: there is no slam dunk coaching hires that make the jump from the NFL to college without any prior experience of today's college game.

I don't think the "ownership of the Browns" is even possible. Haslem would have to gift the "part ownership" to UT first then it be given to Gruden. That is not happening. It is not reasonable either. Haslem just bought the Browns. Whatever banks that are financing the purchase of the Browns are not going to let Haslem give an ownership interest away for a third party benefit. Now, if it was to coach the Browns and improve their value, then that would be different.

Okay fine, you don't think Gruden is the man for the UT job. Who are a couple men who you would like to see coach the Vols rather than Gruden?

Didn't say that at all. But Dave Hart must meet with him before offering him ridiculous money to go over a lot of areas in the college game as well as go over some pro scenarios.

Fedora and Strong would both win big here.

Who says he is a slam dunk hire? Who says he even wants this job. What I heard today makes more sense then anything. The leak that Glen Carver did last night was simply from the Gruden camp. It increases his value for San Diego, New York(Jets), or Philadelphia. Gruden's name out there right now increases his value. The man is going to make mint wherever he goes. Personally, I wish as a fan base we would have never mentioned his name. Maybe, just maybe, it could have saved us a couple mill. His agent has all the ammunition he needs to get his client top dollar wherever he goes, weather he is worth it or not.

ever heard of Skype? in response to Tvols, I think is is extremely important to make sure he knows you are extremely interested and pro-active in getting him

Are you seriously saying Hart should be Skyping potential Coaches???

Maybe Strong but thats not a slam dunk, Louisville got beat by some bad teams late in the season.

We need a huge hire to attract great recruits, unite our program and the fan base and bring in big revenue for the program. "spend money to make money"
Gruden may not be the guy I would rather have Stoops, Carol, or Patterson/Stong

I am saying that Gruden should have been gone after big time!!!!!! Hell Yes
I am sick of checking the threads every two seconds for the last two weeks just to hear Gruden say he has not been pursued

That's funny, Haslam said that when he flat out denied Carver's report this morning. By him just mentioning "gift", "part ownership", "to the University of Tennessee", means it was probably explored? But im like you, no bank is going to take a billion dollar investment and sign any portion off to a third party.

I too have read and seen quotes on AD Harts intentions to be @ NCAA Coaches meetings this coming weekend and early next week. I have seen this and read these quotes fro AD Hart on several different outlets and sources. THAT IN AND OF ITSELF TELLS YOU WHERE HE IS ON GRUDEN! In my opininion he wants to talk with some heavyweight NCAA Coaches and see "IF" any are interested and if not he will quickly move on a Fedora or Golden or Strong, and if that doesnt happen really fast he will go to what his main idea has been since probably last November and go after Kirby Smart, who he has kind of wanted all along... JMO

I think at this point if we end up with someone like Smart or Golden it is going to go over like a fart from the pulpit on Sunday morning.

Don't get me wrong here pls., I have been on the Gruden train and monitor it everyday! Love Fedora and what he has brought to NC and just his demeanor, I also think he would be very successful here!! I would love to have Gruden but how does someone have to do to feel like they are begging too much or offering the kitchen sink, we are UT!! I know we have been down but a good coach should want to come here! Sure LSU is up, bubba, SC, GA but come on coaches are like competitors or should be would anyone of us in that position like to measure your skills against the best?

Guess just getting impatient I love this tradition and I love UT, I know and understand we are down but darn coaches should want to come here and coach!!

Hart has to stop playing around and start finding a proven guy, Gruden is not comimg to the college level, Go get TCU, Patterson, hell right now I'd take Jim Tressell , look at Ohio State this year, yes he got into trouble but HE PAID HIS FINE..
