CBJ is just going to bring 80-90% of his staff from Cincinnati. Why give him a fat ($3mill +) budget that's intended for him to go out and make splash hires, when he has no intention of doing that?

Hart should stipulate in his staff contract negotiations that every staff member that follows him get no more than a 50% raise from their previous salary. If he wants to look out for his buds more than the program, then they shouldn't get to cash in. That's abusing the generosity extended to him.

Stipulate that if his staff is comprised of more than 50% former cohorts, then the overall budget drops to $2mill or less

Oh look...someone else that thinks they could easily do Dave Hart's better than him.

Welcome to the interwebs, genius. That's what we do on messages boards....you offer your opinion on here. I'm offering mine.

The point being, the $3mill budget mentioned surely wasn't intended for simply moving his old staff here. A reasonable mixture is probably what Hart had in mind.

The Memorandum of Understanding said "Minimum of $3,000,000 for assistant coach salaries"

NOT $3,000,000 but MINIMUM of $3,000,000.

Hart should drop ticket prices if he continues to facilitate mediocrity. The tickets just aren't worth what they used to be.

Pretty crazy that he said he would have the best staff assembled. Surely he can't believe that he already had the best staff assembled already.

To be honest, I agree. Bringing in a majority of Cincy's staff does not indicate that he was serious in saying he would bring in the best staff in America. I am all about loyalty, but we need a homerun DC in the worst way. Let Jancek coach LBs if he has to come along...

Have you ever heard of team chemistry? Going out and hiring the big name coordinator for your staff will not solve anything if they can't work well together.

Let the man who makes the 3 mill per year make the decisions who he wants on HIS staff. After all, his livelyhood is at stake, not ours !!! He is the coach , not Vol Nation. What we think does not really matter in the win or loss column. I agree, it does matter to us who buy tickets. BJ is the one running this show , not us.

I don't think he is worried about his livelihood... we made sure of that with his $3mm 6yr contract.

It would be a smart move for jones to hire tee. It would win over a lot of the fan base and be huge in recruiting. You would have hatcher and ramsey both immediately questioning their commitment to usc and considering UT.

My dog could do a better job. Just put a check under the collar with a note and point her in the right direction. Butch Jones is the coach and he'll get his chance to show us if he can recruit and win in the SEC. Dave Hart needs to be fired yesterday.

Jones bringing several of his previous staff members would not bother me much, if he hadn't made the sales pitch about leaving no stone unturned in searching for the best staff in the country. The disconnect between his hype and his action seems odd and troubling. I noticed that he gave the same type performance to the team. He told them his system is infallible, that they will win championships if they buy in. The players appeared a bit jaded and unimpressed, as if they'd heard all the blah blah blah many times before. Jones in turn seemed unphased by their lack of enthusiastic response, as if he also had been there before and knew exactly what he was doing.

Look! The university has a Board of Trustees. Do you honestly believe they would allow the president and the AD to sabotage the cash cow for the university? If Hart and Cheek were trying to ruin the football program, they would both be fired in short order. As far as the new coach is concerned, sit back and be quite, and support this football program. Recruits do look at these sites, and all the negativity could very well affect their decision. I started listening to Tennessee football on a transistor radio on the am dial when Doug Dickey was the coach, so I have been a fan for many years. I can relate to fans wanting a winning team. But in all those years, I haven't been a basher of the coaches, I have supported them until it became evident a change was needed, and then I supported the new coach when they were named. Only exception was Kiffin. I never did feel like he was a good hire, and a powerful supporter made that decision, not the AD. Now, I am supporting coach Jones, and if he brings most of his staff with him, it's his decision. They have been pretty successful so far. That doesn't mean he won't be looking to replace some of them later on, but it is easier right now to bring some of his staff with him. Biggest point is, stop whining and lets support our university and our football program.
