Has AJ Johnson set an announcement date yet?!

Would be interesting turn of events if he stays.

If he stays we have weatherd, AJ and Maggitt. Pretty good LB corps. Front 7 will be more athletic and have better range. Maggitt was a beast when he was healthy. Really looking forward to that.

Lambert, Carr, O'Brien, Vereen will provide better pass rush and would be better outside of the tackles.

I am worried about how we will be against power teams like Georgia and Bama..

Agreed. We could have the best secondary in the conference but if you can't put pressure on the QB it wont matter, definitely can't expect them to keep a guy covered if the QB has all day to throw. I worry about running QB's too. Hopefully with focus on size and speed.it helps with that, getting better at tackling and not having guys continuously ..taking aweful angles and not having the speed to make up for it. But it does appear that Coach Jones is bringing and recruiting just what we need.

Hasn't there also been some discussion about Maggitt's performance at DE in practice this year? I seem to remember some armchair coaches speculating that we may give him a shot there? Could someone like JRM have a shot at that third LB position?

So, it sounds like no one knows. I guess no news is good news. I would imagine at this point, he would want to get through Christmas and then focus on the decision.

Previous posts are your friend!

Or maybe the 10 of you that responded on the "google is your friend" post, felt the guy needed to be called out a little more....

Yes there has and I believe JRM has as good of a chance as anyone if Maggit moves to DE

If Maggit moves
WLB: JRM/bates
MLB: AJ
SLB: Weatherd

If maggit stays:

WLB: Weatherd/Bates/JRM
MLB: AJ
SLB: Maggit

Either way we should be fine but if he is doing good at DE I'd rather have him there to get more speed on the field. He is plenty big enough to play DE.

Actually it was coming from VQ about Maggitt being unblockable in practice. Hope that is the case, it would be huge for the defense. What weight is he up to now?

It took me 10 seconds to find the answer on Google.

Curt Maggit is 6'3

Love to see him and Curt on the field together next year. I think he would be better served with another year in school but If he comes out he will be drafted and will make a team.

Seems like we have alot coming in at DE though... doesnt seem to make sense to me. If he can be elite I guess but bUTch knows best.

I hope him the best but where is the sideline to sideline speed going to come from, I guess be a 2 down player, take him out on third downs, I hope he proves me wrong and ends up begin all pro I think he will have hard time sticking on a roster.

Man I was really hoping AJ would stay for one more year and help bring up our freshman LBs coming in this spring

Johnson will go much higher than most suspect on here IMO. I figure 2nd rd. The guy gets to the ball and makes tackles.

An NFL team will see his film and believe they can refine his pass coverage and maybe even use him in a 3-4 or with his hand on the ground in some instances.

There hasn't been any news on whether he is leaving or not.

Google is no friend to Bing, Yahoo, AOL either.

I doubt he goes in the 2nd round if at all.

AJ needs to stay for his senior year to work on his speed and he might be best used as a fullback in the NFL where he could get some carries and open up holes for running backs.
