Has anyone heard Hadden is out?

Do I think we’re good on the back end? No I don’t but I also don’t believe we’re as bad as what the UF game showed. The LSU and Pitt game is more like it; granted their Offenses aren’t nearly as good as Bamas

I agree. We are also getting better.

Why? Apparently we have a great DB coach who can develop players at a high level. At least that’s what some on here would have you believe. Forget the fact we have the worst pass defense in the SEC.

It doesn’t have to be one or the other. We could have a great DB coach who can develop players at a high level and also have a talent issue. We can even have good talent and a great DB coach but because of where they are in their development they aren’t yet performing as well as one would hope.

It could be an issue with coaching, but I’d say the evidence so far doesn’t seem to point this way given what appears to be improvement.

Williams and Charles will be just fine there.

And maybe Turnage will show back up again?
I know, it's weird...guess coaches know what they're doing, but last year late, he came on and had 5 total tackles vs Bama and then got the start against SC and had 14 total tackles...playing a really solid game...but pretty much crickets since...5 tackles for all of 2022 so far w/ just stats in Ball and Akron. 4* Bama transfer would just figure he'd be more in the action.

I don't even know who's left to say next man up? Feel like that next man is already playing. But yes from what i saw he has been limited in practice with a hamstring.

Maybe our defense coaches need to duplicate what Coach Prime does with his team. How often per week, I don't know, but he requires them to run up and down the stadium steps 13 times. He calls it popping hamstrings or something like that. Apparently, strengthens the long muscle tendon or something. I briefly saw them doing it during a video segment. I think the segment was really about him suspending his own son from the team due to some violation.

Bama lost their starting QB....things like that happen. If one player here or there is the difference in victory...we are not there yet.
We aren’t Bama. We are playing Bama. It’s an all hands on deck kind of game. We are closing the gap but we aren’t there yet. This doesn’t mean it’s an automatic loss or something but we need our best players to play.

Supposing Charles starts at the other CB spot & I’m gonna imagine Turrentine or J. Thomas in for McCollough options for other CB SPOT:

D. Williams
D. Rucker
W. Walker
D. Slaughter
B. Turnage
C. Labruzza
C. Harrison
C. Miller

I lean toward 1 of the first 3, do t think it would be the last 2 or 3 on that list…

It’s funny. Last year our secondary was skilled (talking mainly about Alontae and Theo) but not deep. Now we’re quite deep, but not skilled.

Same. I trust the coaches know best, but it's odd.

Is Tennessee the worst pass D in the SEC?

Or are they simply the worst in “one” stat?

Lots of stats, factors and such make up the entirety of the passing D.

Pass yards given per attempt
Pass yards given per completion
Completion % given
Red zone D
3rd and 4th down D
Scoring D
ect, ect…….all make up at least “part” of the passing defense.

Also teams are passing the ball 45 times per game on Tennessee…….because they have had to. Every team except Pitt has been down by 3 scores to Tennessee. When teams throw the ball more they will gain more yards passing……..regardless who the D is.

All it states was he’s been limited in practice nursing a hamstring. Nothing definite about his status for the game
That is all you are going to get from Heupel. He could have torn up a knee and you will not know until game time.

if we get pressure on Bryce and he isn't able to throw on target will help out our secondary. We will be fine.
