I'm not excusing or defending it.
I think it's absurd and disgusting to attack someone for wearing the hat.
I think it's absurd and disgusting to wear the hat.
I think both groups, the attackers and the wearers, are equally absurd and disgusting.

No, you really are defending it with the reference to feeling the hat, an inanimate object, as absurd and disgusting, and worse put them in the same light as the person who physically attacks a person wearing the hat.

Man wearing MAGA hat assaulted while walking downtown Tucson
TUCSON 11/13/18
As Sparks walked downtown, a man attacked him from behind.
“I felt a very strong grasp on my hat. It pulled me back and grabbed a lot of hair,” Sparks said. The assailant jumped onto my ankle from behind and so not knowing my ankle was broken into four pieces, I turned around to grab and take the hat back. My hands latched onto the hat.”
According to Sparks, they both fell to the ground.
“Then I heard the words Hitler, Nazi and Trump. He was shouting things like that,” Sparks said. “He came over the top of me and over and over again, he hit me.”

lol.....I feel the same about the confederate flag and the swastika. You have the right to love it, hate it, or be completely indifferent. But you should be wise enough to anticipate the differing reactions based on where and when you choose to wear it or display it. To the degree that it is worn or displayed for the sole purpose of soliciting those reactions, some times you get what you ask for.

But, that's not what you are stating, your espousing a personal view and feeling of a man, and a message, and assigning your own hatred and saying "Yeah, but...".

That's your view. As a universally recognized symbol of real hate, all would say (minus the fringe) the swastika is hateful, as it was the symbol of an entire movmement and country of hate for another religious group. This hat, can not be held to the same standard unless Trump and all his supporters are out there rounding up thousands and killing them, last I look the violence isn't coming from that side.

Further, if that is your stance, then from now on anyone wearing that hat should be carrying a gun and be looking to kill and hurt, right? Because, it is the mark and symbol of hate and them blatantly wearing it means they are looking for a reason to kill the very people they hate.

Not one of these people asked to have any other person lay hands on them for wearing a ******** hat, and the fact immature emotionally weak people disagree with one man they "deserve it", once again that's your opinion and not the status quo.

This is not a rare thing. Think about how many times you see these hats in public and then the frequncy of these reported incidents. Then factor in that probably only a very small percentage gets reported at all. This is the new democratic party. This is luther's utopia where opposing opinion is beaten down. Odds are they're going to ick the wrong person to do this to and the consequences will be deadly. That's ok though cause they'll use it to advance their attack on the second amendment.

The fact that you elevate a red MAGA hat to the level of symbols like the confederate battle flag and the swastika as a defense to attacking the wearers of the hats whom are law abiding citizens and doing no harm illustrates the level of cognitive dissonance you idiots have reached to rationalize your abhorrent behavior and actions.

What's ironic is they identify closer to Nazis and swastikas than the conservative side. They really are traitors.

What you guys need to understand is that you hear far more about these non-representative, fringe, extremely rare (on the grand scale) incidents than do most people because of your choices of media outlets and sources of disinformation. It is 100% a right wing propaganda tool to feed you guys every single minor incident that will make you wrongly conclude that it is much more prevalent than reality would suggest.

This is literally the tactics of the main stream media backing the Democrats for years.

You think physical assault is as equally disgusting as wearing a hat?

It really hasn't anything to do with the hat it's just that the typical person wearing one is so obnoxious that a sound thrashing is often called for.

What’s the context of the picture? Why did the guy brandish the gun? And if he did it unlawfully was he arrested? And how does this justify attacking law abiding individuals minding their own business?

With this logic people wearing black socks or plaid shorts should be publicly assaulted also I guess?

Once again, that's your opinion. I have yet to see one of these people go out of their way or approach any other person, it's the other way around.

And, it is about the hat, and the person, as you decided they are one in the same.
