Just wonder how he's grading himself on the qualifications he put forth that the new head coach should have. Such as SEC experience.

Time to fire Hart, Cheek, and Martin. Skeeter said Cheek and Martin are the two biggest problems. According to Ainge, we had Butch Davis with an excellent staff and Cheek stopped it. My guess is Martin had a lot to do with this. Ainge confirmed my suspensions about the AD Compliance staff not wanting to work for their pay check. We have a bunch of Nancy's in the AD and they all need to go. Skeeter has said about as much also.

MARTIN and CHEEK are the two that need to receive a lot of pressure about this FUBAR situation.

I'm certainly not advocating that Hart gives us daily updates and I agree that either extreme is unfavorable. I do believe that a statement putting some positive spin on the Gruden rejection, if that's what it was, would have enhanced the acceptance of the eventual hire.

The unity of the fan base on getting Gruden became universal disappointment when it failed to happen. The Gruden thread had more than 150,000 posts.

So I'll say it again..... VOLS, BUTCH! I think we got a good coach. I hope he retains Graham and Pittman and maybe goes after Kevin Steele for DC.

Fire Hart...the would be sme sreaming this if we hired Fisher, Golden, Gundy, Pelini, Davis or a few others. For some ther won't be happy no matter what. Jones had not even got the staff together, had the first practice, the first class and already some are out with pitchforks and torches.

And for being turnind down, they still say there was only one that got a offical offer and that was Strong. The guys here on 104.5 today mentioned that Gruden's agent told Hart that Gruden would not coach any college football.

Hart mismanaged his way into making the UT fb HC job search a laughingstock to the rest of the nation. He was turned down twice. He's a Bammer guy. Why we pay anybody from Bammer a dime while an alumna of UT is not in his place is shameful to me. I totally support Butch Jones and expect him to produce champions on The Hill.

Which should've been addressed much sooner, if they weren't true. There was no point in letting the fanbase build up these expectations.

There is nothing wrong with a short statement saying that Jon Gruden would not be an option. If you actually believe the Hart/Agent explanation, then that makes Hart look incompetent after sitting around his office for a week before starting the real process, while every other school was actively hiring coaches.

However, I know Stephen Hargis, and have no doubt his article in the Chattanooga Times was legit. Hell, even Rucker said that things went a lot further than the administration let on.

BTW, I really like this hire and Butch, so I'm on board with him.

In fairness I purchased my pitchfork and torches before Jones was named and I can find the posts to prove it. Maybe a shipping label....

Dooley's gone and since some people just have to complain about something Hart is the logical choice. Why do so many people want to make themselves miserable day after day? Fascinating

This all falls on Hart (who apparently wanted Sunseri as DC also) and Cheek. It's their baby and they want to take of it. Their ego will be the end of their careers at TN and we will be stuck with a Hamilton situation down the road. 3 more years (minimum) and then re-boot once again. It's sad that we have to go through this again. I believe these idiots care more about their ego's than TN.

Hiring Butch Dooley is what I'm complaining about. Also I wasn't miserable until today.

I am busy watching the Grizzlies so I'm not going to take the time to look. But something tells me if someone looked at your posting history there would be some pre-Jones misery. Perhaps, quite a bit. This is just a guess based on this one post. I don't know you (and I know you and no one else knows me because I haven't posted here in a while.)

So I am just going out on a limb here and guessing you were not all wine and roses before today's coaching announcement.

Dont you find it funny how last week Jimbo Fisher was mentioned all over the place then all of the sudden nothing? No mention if they talked or made him an offer. Fisher just disappeared and without explanation. That's because Hart told everyone Fisher was interested and he was candidate when Hart hadnt even talked to him. Didn't know people check posting history but I don't post often either, especially in the football forum. For the record (but not on this board) I was and still am all wine and roses when Dools got fired. Now with Butches I am all whine and no roses. Any serious TN football fan would feel the same way.

Okay, I will take you at your word regarding your prior sentiments.

People tend to have diverse opinions on a lot of subjects, including sports. I don't expect all fans to agree with mine, and if one doesn't, I don't question whether he or she is a serious fan or not.

People can be intensely serious about certain things yet be wrong. Or in some cases, it is a subjective topic and there is no definitive way to say who is right and who is wrong.

So I like to stick to discussing the ideas in play, without passing judgment on the person expressing them. But that's just my preference.

David Climer seem disappointed with Hart. Climer said on 102.5 that Fedora was very interested but after talking to Hart, Fedora removed himself from consideration. Climer also suspected something similar happened with Strong.
