Dims need to outlaw that sleepy little town down around San Antone. Doobie Bros say the people of the town are strange! Well you talkin' 'bout your racist China Grove.

I am firm believer that it is the intent behind the words that matter. Trump meant it when he used it as a dig at the chinese. I didn't find it to be a dig at a race, but rather the government of a country. But there is no question that he meant it to be offensive. Even if it was meant to be racist, I believe he is well within his rights to spew racist rhetoric. There is a solution... vote him out.

For the government to censor the speech of its citizens through passing laws directed at particular words does not pass constitutional muster. You want free speech? Then you have to acknowledge and accept that another man has a right to speech that makes your blood boil. You have to accept that it is his right to claim a platform and espouse ideas that you find repulsive. That is free speech.

The left disagrees with you

Not happening to us but Houston is issuing fines to companies who haven't gotten their annual inspections, inspection centers have been closed for over a month.

Gotta love the great communist state of Texas.
So we’re bashing the idiots that run Houston and San Antonio? I’ll get on board with that and throw the idiots in Dallas in for good measure.

Don’t know if you saw but the state AG ordered released the lady Dallas locked up because she gave them the finger and was unrepentant about it. Good for her.

neither is calling people illegal aliens, or saying there is only two genders, or that other cultures are inferior or any other nonsense the left comes up with as "hate speech"

It is not illegal, but often times it provides great insight into the character of the speaker.

Texas is a lost cause. We need to give it back to Mexico or we'll have another CA on our hands.

No it simply means people who are in the country illegally. But racist gon racist

Why are you assuming that, from all the examples he gave, I was referring to that one. Or really any of them. My comment was not addressing any particular subject matter, but more of a general observation. Why are you so triggered by illegal aliens?

Texas and California represent about 25% of the GDP, they would survive just fine.

No they wouldn't. They would be beholden to the trade terms we dictate to them and would have to invest in defense and infrastructure without federal money. I keep seeing arguments like that and keep pointing out how shortsighted and wrong it is but it still keeps coming up.

This is the dumbest most anti free speech ******** that I am not sure why it has support from any corner of the populace.

Ted Cruz slams San Antonio plan declaring 'Chinese virus' to be hate speech: 'This is NUTS'

Spew all the hate you want. I also think hate crimes are a stupid creation of the legislature. If you kill someone because of their race, sexual orientation etc. i think it shows a level of depravity and will be reflected in the sentence and mercy shown by the court and later the parole board, but it shouldn't be a separate charge.
If you "kill someone because of their race, sexual orientation, etc.," they are no more dead than if you kill them for the sport of it. It's bullsh!t to treat that type of murder any differently than any other.

For the purposes of charging, I agree. Now I do believe that motive comes in to play when a judge is looking at mitigating factors or aggravating factors for the purpose of sentencing.

Thought police at work. Victims are no less dead so the judge is here to get in the defendants "mind"

Has anyone ever been charged with a hate crime in the killing of a white person? I've never heard of that happening myself. So my question is, are we saying only white people can kill in hate?

hate crimes are legal "feelz good" statues, not of any ACTUAL value in criminal law.
Especially when the vast majority of "reported hate crimes" turn out to be outright hoaxes

How so? TX and CA wouldn't need an Army/Navy? They wouldn't need to maintain ALL of their infrastructure? They wouldn't be at our mercy in trade deals?

Like the rest of the world it at our mercy? Currently, they contribute more to the federal pie than they remove. Keep that money at home and they win. Furthermore, they, a large percentage of the refineries in the US reside in those two states and Tx produces more than 40% of all US oil. They would be just fine. The military infrastructure is already in place. US would lose a large percentage of its naval bases in the process.
