It started around 90 years ago. The 2nd largest Bulldog Club is in Jax. UGA wanted it's fans in South GA and North FL to be able to attend a game without having to drive to Athens and spend the night.

You would thing uga would want all that Hotel/Motel/Restaurant/Bar revenue for Athens...

I'm not sure if UGA cares about the hotel/restaurant/bar revenue, but Athens/Clarke county definitely would. Kirby and the fans just want another home game every other year.

I can understand the thinking in 1980 . . . but it's hard to understand why they didn't stop it about 30 years ago. It makes the UGA home schedule terrible every other year when they only get 3 SEC games at home.

IIRC, UGA gets $2M for the game. The down side is, we can't host recruits when we are the "home team". Kirby hates that, so either we will be allowed, or it will become home and home.
