Hat's thoughts on incoming class

When JP first transferred, Hatevol96 was going on and on about how undeserving of the chance he was. I am just pointing out that while Hat may have a good take on the game itself, his knowledge regarding players and their talent is limited.
Yeah, because I missed so badly on Marques Johnson, Tony Passley, Phillip Jurick and Chris Lofton's NBA potential.

There aren't any Marques Johnsons or Phillip Juricks in this class. The two guards will be very good SEC players in time. Tobias Harris is an elite player, though he's not as good as his hype. People expecting to see UT's version of Carmelo Anthony are going to be disappointed. This is the kind of class you have to recruit to win championships.

very false. Josh is going to compete for playing time immediately, he isn't scared and understands the offense already, since he's been committed for so long. While Harris isn't anthony, he is his own type of player that will have a huge impact in Tennessees style next year potentially being our leading scorer and a top rebounder. He's an excellent passer, his skill set for someone that is 6-9 is ridiculous. That is with no bias

Yeah, McRae is going to be the guy to put Tennessee over the top.

Haha it is quite a bit easier to predict that a decent college player will not succeed in the NBA. You were going on and on about a player who in your mind wasn't talented enough to play on any Division 1 team. I just hate seeing people praise you when in my opinion you aren't deserving. Stick to the game reports, they are enjoyable. Refrain from predicting any recruits' talent please cause that is when you embarrass yourself.

It is crazy that the JP Prince thread was dug up and people are dogging hat for his comments years ago regarding Prince. It was his opinion. Why crucify him for it? Players develop, mature, grow, progress and in some cases digress. In this case Prince was a decent player this year (not all world or all sec) but a solid player. Remember, many people once thought Ryan Leaf would be a better NFL player than Peyton Manning, see how that turned out.

No response on the Johnson, Jurick, et al stuff. Not surprising. You're just another whiny sheep who looks for anyone being objective to be wrong to come cackling. You've been here some time now and your next worthwhile post will be your first. How about you refrain from breathing? That would make the world a better place.

Marques Johnson was a five time NBA All Star. Oh wait, not that Marques Johnson...

I know you haven't been as close to recruiting right now as times in the past, but do you have any insight on Selby? It seems like one day there is a ton of smoke with him to UT and then the next day he is saying we are maybe in his top 5. I still think KU. I don't see much with Zona or UConn. I'm not sure what to think about UK in this situation.

If UT were to luck out and land Selby, what kind of potential would that give us for next year?

Signing Selby would make Tennessee the overwhelmiing favorite to win the SEC. They'd be in everyone's preseason top 10-15. I wouldn't be so sure that UCONN is out of contention.

With Selby, where would UT rank among the top classes, and who would have better in your opinion?

JP certainly wasn't a waste of a scholarship. However, the people on the other side of the spectrum weren't right, either. I'm not going to dig through old threads, but I'm pretty sure I remember some people thought he would come and and have a huge impact until he left. That most certainly wasn't the case, either.

I'm still waiting for him to be the starting point guard.

With Selby, Tennessee is certainly in the top 5. Memphis and Ohio State have awfully good classes. I'll also be interested to see what Kentucky's final haul looks like.

People are very excited about Sullinger and Thomas here. I still don't expect OSU to have a serious shot at competing for a title unless Turner stays.

I love it when people who have been signed on to the site for all of a month feels that they are the authority on who knows what.

Sullinger looks overrated to me. They might be disappointed.

Without Turner, the team didn't seem to be remotely special. If Matta couldn't win the title with Oden, Conley, Cook, and the rest of the "Thad 5," I'm not sure he'll ever do it. They should have a good chance if Turner stays, but I assume he'll leave. Matta has been bringing a lot of top rated recruits to OSU his whole career, but almost everyone of note seems to be done after a year.

Prince's ability to pass over the top of shorter players from outside will be missed. We got a whole lot of pts this season with Prince simply dishing inside to Wayne.

I'm not sure we have many good passers on next year's team.[/QUOTE]

I agree on this point.

Link? I remember him saying he should go to a C-USA school. That's division 1.
