Hawaii vs usc

Not really as much the spread, but something like the pistol, with a fast mobile qb and what not. Case in point, ole miss v ut last year

That would be a fair point. "Spread" just means "4 wide outs" or something equivalent to spread the defense out. It does not imply a fast-paced offense like what we're seeing here. There are types of the Run and Shoot which are "spread" offenses but that isn't what makes them hard to defend against.

Monte simply can't adjust to all the formations out there. The game has run off and left him. A good D-coordinator in today's age has to be able to change on the fly. Monte expects 18-22 year olds to make all the adjustments while conforming to his scheme. There's no way it will ever be consistent at the college level. Oh, and can someone tell me why this blind kid is so important?

It's too bad Hawaii fans don't care enough to get into a ****storm should this call go the other way. It's just not the same as reffing in a big-time program's home stadium.

Right, and one of the problems of this defense is the movement of the linebackers into a coverage situation, leaving large gaps in the field. Have a fast qb and you can exploit the hell out of it. Put a percy harvin against that defense and he will have a career day

I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking the same thing. Did you notice how the reporter said "He's so courageous to tell us his story"? I think she got some words mixed up there.

well i feel bad for the kid that he lost his vision - i want to make that clear - and i applaud him for trying to remain upbeat......maybe they're just trying to do too much with that story, i don't know

how long has USC's defense been on the field? it seems like USC's offensive drives have been pretty quick

I have to say it's really sad that Hawaii just sucks too much to win this game. USC certainly does not deserve to win. If Hawaii had just not made so many dumb mistakes and the refs hadn't screwed them out of that touchdown this would have been an upset.

I am not getting to class tomorrow.

I should probably just tell my professor my story. I'm sure he'd understand. Huge Tennessee fan also, probably didn't like kiffin to begin with.

I've given up on trying to correct people on this myth about monte and the spread

It's like they have no idea that the spread offense is one of the most popular in the NFL or that he has done well against it numerous times while at Tampa Bay and at Tennessee.

Spread does not mean 4 wideouts. Rich Rod is a master of the spread and he rarely uses 4 wideouts. Hawaii runs a fun and gun type offense where they "spread" it out and in their case use 4 wide. Ole Miss didn't run 4 wide out there and he couldn't stop that either. Considering I lived my entire life 2 hrs from Tampa I've seen plenty of Monte and he has struggled at times. His last game against Carolina, TB was embarrassed! And please tell me who runs a spread in the NFL? I'd say NOLA is close and maybe Indy lately since their run game is pitiful.

Point being, anything that is unconventional Monte struggles...I.e. Auburn, Ole Miss, Hawaii compared to Bama, UCLA, UGA.
