Unless you were in the meeting with Fulmer and Stevens, I don't think you should be commenting on what was said.

So people can't comment on news stories unless they were at the scene of the story?

This section of VolBall is getting a little worn but...

Most of the comments are based on what CPF and Stephens have both told the media. Very little if any is based on speculation aboyt what was said between them (other than what they provided).

This season could be called a blessing in disguise for the rumblings and coaching changes that the season has produced.

I totally agree, the worst thing that could have happen is another 7 - 4 or 8 - 3 season and no changes at all. So this is a blessing for sure...

Unfortunately, that is the way I have felt as well. Ho Hum we've won a lot of games around here...you can't go undefeated every year...no one wins all of the time...yada yada yada...no changes.

This was just what the doctor ordered. I will gladly go back and experience the season's pains again if it means we can hire CUT, KIPPY, and a great OL COACH.

This is so funny. Actually pathetic. I am so glad irrational fans don't get to make decisions. Here is what many of you on here have done over time.

1. You blamed Sanders for the Offense and said he needed to go. He did. Result? Fumer is a chicken who did not take responsibility and CRS is the scapegoat.

2. When Cut was here things were great. Result?Looks like Cut is coming and now he is not what we need because we need new blood and CPF is not taking responsibility.

3. WR are not playing well at all and the wr coach needs to go. Result? Washington out and CPF not taking responsibility.

4. O line not playing well at all and Stephens needs to go. Result? Stephens gone and CPF not taking responsibility.

5. CPF is to loyal to his assistant coaches. It has become a good old boy system up on the hill. What we need to do is fire a bunch of those guys and bring in blood. Result? New O Coodinator, O line coach and WR coach and CPF still not taking responsibility.

It is a pathetic sight to see so many emotionally charged goofballs wear orange. I swear so many on here sound like bammers.
The man took responsibility by making changes he needed to make. You ask for something and when you get it you still gripe. We get it. OK! You don't like CPF. Fine. But just because you "feel" about something does not make it true. We will be much better. And as far as him not doing good unless he is surrounded by good assistants goes? Anyone who says that is really out in left field and knows nothing about leadership. This was a tough year and with the tough year tough decisions had to be made and they were.

I would like to know why you think this. You're telling me that one good HC surrounded by idiots can overcome this and lead a team repeatedly to bigger and better things? I think this is a foolish thought. Any good company or team out there has a good level of assistants who actually handle the day-to-day operations.

Leadership is hiring the best of each specialty and making it where you don't have to do much. You oversee a finely tuned operation. Example on our team is Chavis. I seriously doubt Fulmer is telling Chavis a lot of what he needs to do. Look at Tuberville in Auburn. Or even Miles at LSU. Miles walked in the door with an existing staff and let them all stay. He's pretty much let the system run itself.

I guess left-field as you call it is practical reality.

I have to say that I'm surprised PF gave Stephens any answer at all to "Why am I being canned?" Isn't it pretty much standard operating procedure now to not give a reason, as that reason might be actionable in court?

What's sad is that Stephens had to ask. Good god, why didn't he know???

I can understand not blaming Phil for the poor coaching of the wr's and qb position but how does everyone give him a free pass on the poor play of the offensive line? Phil makes more money then all the assistants on his football team combined. Yet there isnt one area on this football team that people hold him responsible for the poor coaching. Everyone wants to blame the assistants.

In some areas yes I agree. Fulmer has no expertise in coaching the qb position or wr position so yes I can see that being the responsiblity of the assistant coaches, but why a free pass for the offensive line?

You look around the league guys like Spurrier coach the qb and are the offensive coordinators. Richt at Ga was a QB's coach at FSU for 15 years, and coaches his qb's now. But why is it no one thinks Fulmer should have responsibility for the poor OL and instead blame everything on the assistant. It must be nice to have a job where you can blame everything on the people working under you.
