I wouldn't say that Kobe needs Shaq more than Shaq needs Kobe. Shaq has D Wade as a perimeter threat. Who exactly does Kobe have on the inside? Shaq also has Haslem, Williams, Payton, Walker, etc. Kobe has a bunch of junkers that rely on him.
I'll take Lamar Odom over any of the last four guys you mention. GP was one of the greatest of all time. Now he's an aging shadow of his former self.

Yeah hat, you completely missed my point. Would you take Kobe and Odom over Shaq and Wade? Not a chance. Wade is alot better support than Odom. Would you take the rest of LA's supporting cast over Miami's? I doubt it.

I think Smush Parker will be fine. LA's mistake was the Caron Butler/Kwame Brown trade. Butler, Odom, and Bryant would be a nice nucleus. I didn't miss your point. I was just pointing out that Odom is a pretty good NBA player. Off the subject a little, if all of Miami's players had been together on a roster when they were in their primes, that would be an epic team.

Anybody that put the Pistons out can win it all IMO.
Friday night the Pistons looked like a team that had finally been worn down after four years of epic battles. Seeing that reminded me how incredible the runs through the '80s the Lakers and Celtics made were.

I always thought Detroit was the team that got the job done without the great, great players you hear about.Just alot of hard nosed skilled ball players.

That's a good assessment of them. I just think after 4 years of deep runs into the playoffs they were spent. They've played over 80 playoff games in the last four seasons. That's the equivalent of an extra season. I think San Antonio also ran into that.

That and no real star power. Takes a great coach to make a cast like that work. Larry Brown couldn't rely on his superstars, 'cause he had none. And Flip Doesn't know how to handle them. Their being worn down is also a good point.

The Pistons don't have a lot of young legs. There are a lot of miles on most of their key guys.

No denying that. They could still get it done if they had the right guy to put it together, though. And if Flippy doesn't work out in the long run... Darko to the rescue? :dunno:

Darko's in Orlando now. He's not going to save them.

Speaking of the Darko, he didn't play that bad once he got some minutes in Orlando. Playing with Dwight Howard didn't hurt either.

Darko's going to be a good NBA player. However, he's going to suffer from Sam Bowie disease. Having Carmelo and D-Wade picked after you just sets you up for criticism.

Given how furious Stern was when Riley left New York, there is no good option for the Commish in this series.

I'm sure Stern is fine with the series. Two reasonably large markets getting represented in the Finals.

True, but he despises the two main management types in the series.

The '85 Lakers would destroy those Knick teams.
The knicks were balanced. No ball hogs.I suppose you think the New York Yankees of the 90's could have destroyed the big red machine too with Bench,Rose,Concepcion,Morgan,Griffey, to name a few.Newer doesn't mean better all the time. :biggrin2:

A best of seven series between the Big Red Machine and the '90s Yankees would be halted after 3 games. The Reds would so brutally destroy the Yankees that a fourth game would be cruel and unusual punishment. I wasn't taking a shot at those Knicks teams. It's just my opinion that the '85 Lakers are the best team in NBA history.

Thank you.At least we can agree on the big red machine.Im not so sure the lakers weren't a better team back in Wlt Chamberlain, Jerry West days?
