Heisman pure politics !

Heisman bias has been a common refrain on this board for nearly 25 years. No observant UT fan would expect anything else. Btw, I'll watch Andy and Barney any and every day. They should just burn the Mayberry RFD tapes and never air 'em again.

They’ve been hyping Hooker all year. Gameday has been a Hendon4Heisman love fest with at least 3 panels (and even Stephen A Smith!!! guest picker yesterday) hyping Hendon Hooker.
Pollack, Desmond have both said Hooker has their vote now. Herbstreit has strongly implied that if not come out and said it.
What else do you want them to do? Plaster his face on Times Square?
That's a great idea. Send a text, twitter, whatever to AD White and get this thing going.
And on another note, it's probably the kiss of death if Pollack is backing Hooker.

My biggest concern is that the PR campaign for Stroud has been going strong for more than just this season. I expect they will justify giving it to Stroud because a Big 10 player hasn’t won the award since 2006.
Pretty much the same campaign as the one be that said a corner needed to win for once.

He can lock it down vs GA if we win. Shouldn't be a question after that but like most have said I quit caring after they screwed Peyton.

Also, Titans are good trucks, had one for many years until recently.

I have said for a long time if there ever was a Tennessee player to win the Heisman, they should walk up there, stand at the podium with trophy in hand and refuse to accept it on behalf of Jonny Majors and Peyton Manning because of the voting malfeasance that robbed them both of winning the trophy. Then, hand the trophy back and walk off the stage.
Or take it and tell everyone you’re donating it to Reggie Bush.

What??🙄.

That would be a total disrespect to all the other candidates that strived to get the trophy this year. It's an award.
If you don't intend to accept it, then just don't come to the presentation.

And have you even considered how much stuff like that helps recruiting???
Come on, dude....😕
I would support any current or future Tennessee player that said no thank you, I have higher aspirations for my self. That would be epic.

One thing is different…ESPN is giving Hooker the hype this year.

Manning had his Heisman stolen from ESPD hype of Woodson.

Maybe we are on the right side of this? Next week will mean a lot to the Heisman voters.
If we win next week, despite the disadvantage of Big 10 media bias, you can start to chisel his name on that bad boy

I’d say even in a close loss (cover the spread) that he has his normal numbers and doesn’t “lose” the game, he’s still gonna be a front runner.

I quit watching the Heisman Trophy garbage when Peyton Manning was screwed out of it. It has totally resorted to politics and is based on the area of the country where the most media votes are located. Most people realize this. Even though Hendon Hooker should win it hands down ,he will never get enough votes simply due to the fact he plays for Tennessee(fewer votes in this regional area). This is strictly my opinion and from talking to many others they feel exactly the same way. So, I had rather watch old Mayberry RFD rerunds than watch any Heisman presentation.
But if he wins, it really doesn't count for anything because the Heisman is irrelevant right?

Why would any young man refuse his trophy to honor Peyton, Heath, and Johnny?
He might take it and honor them himself.
That is not Hendon Hooker's fight.

It’s a beauty contest. It would be cool to win a beauty contest, but way better to win a championship. I suspect both Heupel and Hooker feel this way.

Without looking it up, can someone tell me when and who was the last Big Ten player to win the Heisman??
I think for the last several years the SEC has dominated the award.

I have a feeling that in the last 50 years the SEC has more Heisman winners than any other conference.
I would guess Troy Smith in 2006.

We’ll just have to take the championship trophy instead. I’ve said it before the media wants to give it to Stroud and by damn they will do everything in their power to award him that trophy.

Never been anything but politics. If Hooker gets it over Shroud then Hendon IS the nation's best player.

The reason the Heisman is political BS is because the media determines the winner. For the most part the media are a bunch untalented, corrupt idiots.

Get rid of the media vote and only let former winners and coaches (unless they have a player in the running) vote. Then you might approach a more legitimate vote.

The hate for the Heisman is irrational. Was Manning screwed? Absolutely. Would I celebrate one of our guys winning it? Absolutely. Personally, I'm going for a stretch goal of having both Hooker and Hyatt invited to New York. That would be huge for the program and something we all should be rooting for.

I watched 2 OSU games this year and after watching the game yesterday at noon, I don't understand the hype. Delay of Games, Missed Routes, bad coverage reads, I think he is possibly the 4 best QB in the nation. His stats are great but you would have those when you are throwing to constant first round picks. I understand Hyatt has been amazing and Tillman should be a late 1st round pick but imagine if HH was throwing to Garret Wilson, Olave, JSN, Egbuka and Marvin Harrison Jr whom will be all 1st round picks. I think stats get overblown because of lack of talent on the other team and of course who Stroud is throwing to. I would go HH, Corum, Caleb Williams and CJ Stroud. The big problem with this list is Corum is splitting some carries with Edward's and Caleb Williams is on the west coast so some of the games are too late to watch.

Since I am the orig poster..............................If I won it I would set it on fire right there on the stage after I gave my acceptance speech. While burning I would say this is in memory of Peyton Manning, Hendon Hooker and all the others that got screwed simply due to not living in an area rich in media votes !!!
