Hello Miss. State

You aren't the only one who is nervous, my friend. I can assure you of that. I'm always nervous (BadJerry can vouch for me there), but even more so with our history in this tournament.

So many unexplainable losses, even just since Bruce Pearl got here. Because I'm bored:

2006: Pearl's first year. We were the East 1-seed (won East outright), yet lost 79-71 to the East 5-seed, USCe.

2007: We were the East 3-seed and lost our first game to a not-very-good-possibly-even-terrible LSU team (West 6-seed). It went to OT and we lost 76-67. I remember this game like it was yesterday. I was ****ing PISSED afterward.

2008: Made the semis, but lost 92-91 in a heartbreaker to Arkansas on a ****ing garbage turnaround fadeaway by a man named Steven Hill, who looked like a homeless guy and, as I remember it, had zero offensive skill. In other words, the shot was luck.

2009: Made the finals but choked away a winnable game against the fighting Jarvis Varnado's of Mississippi State.

2010: Our eventual Elite Eight team made the semis before getting just absolutely shelled by the John Wall-Cousins-Bledsoe-Lamb Kentucky Wildcats. 74-45. Yikes.

2011: Pearl's last year. The team that just tanked the end of the season. We were only the East 5-seed and lost in the quarters to Florida, 85-74.

2012: You guys remember it. We needed the win to stay in the conversation but Ole Miss came out and slapped us, eventually winning in overtime by a score of 77-72.

2013: ?

Man oh man. Doing this only reiterated to me how abysmal we are in this tournament. Wish I hadn't done that, but like I said, I'm bored.

Anyone who actually reads this has my thanks. :hi:

Sickening.

One correction...No Lamb on that 2010 UK squad. He came the following year with Brandon Knight, Terrance Jones, et al. Not that it matters much. Man they pounded our eyes shut that day.

The worst thing about this post is this was the best stretch we've had in this dang tournament.

Ah yes. Thank you. I did have a weird feeling about that one as I typed it, like that may not be right. I was just too lazy to double check! :)
