Hendon Hooker status? ***UPDATE - Torn ACL***

Best of luck to Hooker and thanks to Hooker for what he has done!!

Just a weird injury and how he went down....Were we running a option there?

The field was in bad shape to start with. Unlike Knoxville, that Carolina area got a lot of rain this year (some due to hurricane remnants) and the field had too much sand mixed into the turf. You saw it earlier in the game when both Hooker and Small lost their footing and went down without contact. It affected Hyatt as well I think.

Honestly, we need to out their whole fanbase on blast. During the injury, while Hendon is on the ground and his teammates are kneeling for him the stadium starts their lame video board assisted GAME - COCK chant. They also were screaming for a fumble and reverse call. That was some classless s*** with then already well ahead at that point.

Question for the resident medical professionals and folks with 1st hand experience with ACL tears; is an ACL tear something that you can feel coming ? I wonder if he's had some irritation with that knee the past couple months or if those things just pop with no warning?

Not usually unless there was a partial tear before and we let him play with it, which I just don’t see happening. Basically that ligament is designed to keep the tibia from moving forward, and it stabilizes the knee. When he tried to make that cut, he put so much pressure on the knee that the ligament tore.

You can still walk, you can sometimes even run in a straight line with a torn ACL, so sometimes people don’t think it’s as bad as it is. But a broken bone is usually a better outcome than a ligament tear. With a tear there’s no stability, your leg buckles if you try to turn too sharply.

They are a non-entity. A program that has never been there and never will be. They wish they had the history that UT has. I pay no attention to anything a fan of a program like that says.

Shane Beamer challenged this play. Let us never forget this.

Classless Butch Jones clone. That guy and his program can go straight to hell.

I couldn’t believe they were chanting during that injury. It was plain as day he was seriously hurt and they were still chanting like the classless ingrates that they are.

Hopefully memories are long and we give it back to that clown program in spades.

The funny thing about your reference to Taj Boyd is that Boyd was coming to Tennessee until Lane Kiffin, in his infinite wisdom, said Boyd didn’t “fit our system”. And the rest is history…
Kiffin messed y'all's QB room up for several years when he ran both Boyd and Bryce Petty off.

Hooker injury

Hige appreciation for a guy who helped resuscitate our football program. So sad that his Vol playing time ended this way.

No way to properly thank him and express support. But, I think I might buy one of his books and give it to a kid as a token of thanks and well wishes.

Prayers for Hendon Hooker & family. As much as we hated the loss, it doesn’t even compare to the devastating injury to Hooker. Our QB; Our leader - a TOTAL class-act!

After a GREAT season, The rest of the games don’t seem to matter that much, now…..

Just hoping that he can rehabilitate and look towards a future career in the NFL.

Thank you Hendon Hooker for the memories, and for a season that VOLS fans will never forget!

Good Luck & God bless.

I have learned Georgia fans can be the same. Butting into the conversation and talking about how we lost, get over it, and it's like we are talking about Hendo getting hurt, not the game. Then somehow that turns into calling vol fans meth heads. I know our fans can be obnoxious, but I have yet to witness classlessness like what I have seen today from our fans.

Hendon will go down as one of the best qb’s to wear the big orange. He absolutely lit it up the past two years and took us from 2 decades of misery to national championship contenders seemingly overnight. And he resurrected a starving fanbase that’s been dying to feel the joy that he brought us for years. I’m forever grateful to this young man for bringing us hope, a renewed spirit and the most fun football season I’ve experienced since ‘98. Thank you, Hendon. Prayers for a quick, full recovery and a long, abundant career in the nfl and any other endeavors on which you set your sights. You’re a winner.

True. Poor job of maintaining their field.
