Here is some slaw

2 is the only option that would have given us a chance of beating Florida or Alabama in the last 4 years, so I guess I have to take that one.

This a joke, right? Fulmer's teams were sliding downhill like a California mudslide. Not to mention there have been tons of stupid moves made by Tennessee athletics. Buzz Peterson, Lane Kiffin, Dave Clawson, Derek Dooley just for starters.

Sunseri!

Fulmer all the way. The absolute, single, most incredibly stupid move of all time when TN fired him.

No, no, the most appropriate decision, one of the few good ones Hamilton made. It was offset though by the nonsensical 6 Million dollar gift hammy bestowed on the round man one year before canning him. PF was the genesis of the current situation UT football is in. Thank God Hammy and Fulmer are both gone.

Fulmer didn't truly lose it until he hired Clawson.

With Cut in 2006-07, we went 9-4 and 10-4. I'd take those records in a heartbeat over anything Dooley or Kiffin did.

But Clawson was a bad hire and it killed not just Fulmer, but any measure of UT success the last 5 years.

Water under the bridge, time to move on, but it does stress how important this hire is. I have far more faith in Hart to get it right than I did Hamilton.

152-52 is no joke.

Actually; CPF was the genesis of the rise and success TN football enjoyed.

I think that honor would go to Robert Neyland.

Okay; correct me (I am sure you will) lol. CJM is ill and CPF takes over and starts winning. CJM comes back and loses. CPF becomes (not backstabs) head coach and begins an almost unparalleled career in the SEC of all places.

I hadn't really thought about it, but an argument could be made that both Fulmer and Dooley lost their jobs at UT essentially because of bad judgement when hiring coordinators when their backs were already against the wall. As for the question in the OP, I'd go 1,3,4, then 2.

I'll take number 4. Or the non-existent #5 in which we hire someone better than Kiffin back in 2008.

1- No thanks. It was time for Fulmer to go.

2- Hell no. Kiffin isn't exactly dominating out at SoCal, and certainly wouldn't be here, either. We'd probably even be lined up for a post season ban by now.

3- Monumentally stupid to even wish it. The only thing that would have maybe accomplished would be prolonging the circus that was the Derek Dooley experiment, which would've gone down the drain probably next year at the very latest, even with a competent DC.

Which scenarios does the Volnation love/Hate? This is painful
1)Fire Clawson keep Fulmer and Chavis
2)Still have Kiffen(somehow) and be coming of probation with top notch recruits.
3)Dooley not hiring Sunseri and hiring anybody else that can coach defense
4)Be in the position we are in currently

#1 without equivocation or doubt.

Every major program goes through slumps. Bama, notre dame, Florida, Michigan, USC, they all do it. Just QQ and know that Dooley was our zook, our Schula. Gruden is gonna be our Saban and we are gonna be on top again boys. Just wait.

If we can stop looking for escape goats, higher the right coach, and get a QB with pocket presents, next year should be much better!
