4. This program has not been competitive since 2005. Florida hired Meyer and then Bama hired Saban. Our coach at that time never beat either one of them and lost to Vandy that year on the way to a losing record.

# 1... Clawson was just a stupid hire. I remember wondering if Fulmer had lost his mind hiring the guy, especially when much better talent was available at the time.

He had a knack for that ........Randy Sanders

Hate to say it, but I think we would have been much better off right now if #1 had been the path forward at the time.

Every major program goes through slumps. Bama, notre dame, Florida, Michigan, USC, they all do it. Just QQ and know that Dooley was our zook, our Schula. Gruden is gonna be our Saban and we are gonna be on top again boys. Just wait.

Honestly, it's an insult to Zook to compare him to Dooley. Zook actually won a few big games. But credit to Florida fans and administration for recognizing that average wasn't good enough. Unfortunately, we had to let Dooley put up the worst record in program history before we took any action.

I have always admired Jeremy Foley's thinking that average was never good enough. He always wants the best for the program regardless of the present state and will do almost anything to take it to the next level. He fired a good coach in Zook (compared to Dooley) only to hire what he thought was the best coach in college football, Urban Meyer.

In the mean time we were being told in 2005 that that was an abnormal situation with Fulmer and he would get it back only to get back into the same situation 3 years later.
