We were in the sticks, camping the alpine lakes wilderness. First overnighter of the year. I cherish my free time and don't spend much of it here anymore. Apologies if it's hard to hold a conversation; sometimes these threads move 10+ pages between me looking here. I'll browse on mobile but wait to comment if it's more than just a few words.
Watch for yourself. There’s quite a bit of video out there both from bystanders and SPD. Nobody physically prevented SPD from accessing the scene. They were heckled, just like before. But there was zero violence, zero resistance. Again, there's been video on local news etc. of police (and other city departments) in the CHAZ several times.
Following the shooting, SPD took 20 minutes to gather forces at the edge of the CHAZ before cautiously entering in full riot gear/formation. By the time they arrived on scene, the victims had already been transported to the hospital in private vehicles. SFD/EMS arrived much earlier but would understandably not enter until the scene is secure. People were pissed at SPD's response time.
The guy who died was probably a goner no matter what with several gunshot wounds to the chest and neck (even though there is a level one trauma center less than a mile away). The medics said they lost his pulse after 2 minutes. Hopefully the other victim pulls through and wasn't further injured by the makeshift ambulance ride.
The stupidest thing I saw was one of these livestreamers going back to the scene and picking up shell casings. Now they're playing detective too
At least it's all on video. I'm pretty sure they'll find the perps and I wouldn't be surprised if there are additional charges and lawsuits down the line.
There's plenty of fair criticism to be dealt here, but not that BS from the police union chief.
