Herman to LSU

Wonder if LSU is rethinking their offer...

LSU hasn't given up 48 or more in a game since 2008, he wouldn't be hired to run the defense. Just to put in perspective, the most LSU has given up this year was last night and it was still borderline blowout with 39 pts.... next after that is 21 pts.

But... to answer your question the offer has a time limit.

If you are not kidding then you are seriously lost.

If Herman passes on Texas. The next level of coaches is a real Hodge podge. Plenty of good coaches but would they angle for raise and stay put. Butch would be 2 steps up from Strong. I'd believe Butch can't be too far down the list. If he can recruit decent here he would have a breeze in the state of Texas.

I still think Kiffy to LSU as HC. He retains Oregeron as Dline coach, assistant HC and recruiter. Sounds familiar eh 😀

Something to think on...

LSU: Fisher
FSU: Kiffin
Tx: Herman
Houston: Fleck
Baylor: Ed O
Purdue: Miles

Maybe flip Baylor and Houston? They are all guesses obviously.

I was told on Wednesday the Jimbo thing was dead, that doesn't mean he couldn't be back in the mix but.... based on what transpired I don't like the chances of that. Herman could turn down the deal to LSU but that hurts leverage with UT, but that is just a matter of money.

There is no given in any of this... despite ESPN being a bunch of douchebags.

I do hope if Coach O isn't the man that he decides to stay but if not I hope another school gives him a shoot. Major Applewhite should be a figure in your scenario.

Seems like if orgeron is smart he should at least get a high dollar defensive coordinator job out I'll actually feel bad for the guy if he has to go back to being a DL coach again

He should be in line for at least AAC MAC type head coaching job he's done really well at 2 different stops as interim coach and ole miss was a long time ago

He doesn't want to be a defensive coordinator and I don't think he ever has been.

If they pull it then they know he is headed to Austin and they won't match what Texas is offering.

Both Jimbo and Herman had offers, they (offers) are like a gallon of milk, they have an expiration date. No reason for LSU to get into a bidding war, nor to be used as leverage.

You either want to coach at LSU or you don't. Unless something changed, he has an opportunity to take the LSU job or go into potential discussions with Texas without leverage. There really is no reason for Texas to hurry.

Sounds like you're prepared. :)

It could end badly for LSU, of course, but I only see one real scenario for that. But even under that scenario because than LSU knows who truly wants to coach at LSU. Whether Coach O is a good coach or not is not known, whether Coach O is 100% all in is known by everyone.

Even the worse case scenario is possibly good for LSU, greatly reduced coaching staff salary. Aranda had done a good job, but if he wants to leave.... leave.

ESPN is dumb - not sure why they even jumped the gun on that. UT & LSU will be making major offers to Herman, that much I'm certain of. I think we know who wins that bidding war, so I guess it comes down to personal preference and other such niceties. Herman's agent, Trace Armstrong, is a smart guy. Same agent who manages Butch Jones & Urban Meyer among others by the way. It's going to be a bidding war to the end and I think Herman makes his choice based on prefence (which may be heavily influenced by $$$). Also I don't think Fisher is a realistic candidate for LSU either, not sure what their angle with that is - maybe they are trying to over-value their worth in the eyes of potential coaching candidates (specifically Herman) by teasing a big name (ala Saban to Texas a few years ago). Smoke screens galore in this business...
