So I've had cirrhosis of the liver for some time now. I'm on the liver transplant list at Vanderbilt, but unfortunately, no matches yet. I went for a routine visit last Tuesday. The doctor said I have about a year to live. He said either they find me a liver, or, as he put it, Heaven. Being religious, I look at it as whatever happens is God's will. But I'd be lying if I said this hasn't created a high level of anxiety within me. I'm not really scared, which is odd, I just find myself highly nervous.
I'm hoping talking about it might help those nerves, but I'm not sure if it will work or not.
For the record, I have the NASH form of cirrhosis, meaning it wasn't caused by alcohol. I had a fatty liver that turned into cirrhosis.
One other note, my dad died less than a year ago from liver cancer, which started out as NASH before turning into cancer.
Weezer that is crazy. How are you feeling at this point?
Feeling feeble. Stomach problems are still haunting me, which makes getting around very difficult. Some days, my stomach hurts so bad I can't walk. Just feels like my gut is all twisted. Go back to Vandy next week for an EGD, so hopefully they find out what's going on.
Wish recovery was smoother as well, but I'm alive, so I'm thankful just for that. I'll get where I need to be eventually, it's just a matter of time. Lol, I've never been a patient person, so I'll just take it as God's way of teaching me. I need to be a better student.
I'm 43. They still haven't figured out the dizziness thing for sure, but they're currently chocking it up to ortho-static- hypotension(probably butchered the spelling). It's where your blood pressure suddenly drops when you're on your feet.
Im sure theyve checked, but how is your H&H (blood counts)? Sometimes a low blood count or anemia can cause that.
Just know you mentioned your stomach, last thing I want to hear is that you have a GI bleed or something too, bud.
