Former UCF QB McKenzie Milton has entered the transfer portal. He suffered a major leg injury back in 2018 after bring UCF from worst to first.

Although the kid is a good prospect that can use his legs and ultimate frisbee background to sling the ball all over the field, I see this option as unlikely.

I see it unlikely as I expect him to go to Nebraska back with his former coach Scott Frost. Seem like an easy marriage as the cornhuskers need a QB now.

But let me know what you think

UCF QB Milton to enter portal, seeks starting job

Milton was the QB that lead UCF to their undefeated season in 2017, with a peach bowl win over Auburn. He played most of 2018 but was sidelined with a pretty gruesome knee injury that cost him his 2019 season. He didn’t play in 2020 because UCF had already put all their chips in on Dillon Gabriel, another stud QB from their 2019 class

Former 3-Star ATH in the 2016 class

Like we discussed in another thread - I’d be more interested in Darriel Mack, their other transfer QB

I agree with you on him going back to Frost but Tennessee should try their best to get him here.

2018 is a long time ago. By next season, it'll be 3 years since his injury. If he hasn't fully recovered yet, what makes us think he would? Keep in mind I don't watch his team so he may have been playing this year, I don't know.

From what I've read is that he's almost 100% fully recovered. But obviously won't be exactly the same

So we’re hanging our hopes on a guy who couldn’t win the starting job at a group of 5 school. Ok.

My immediate reaction is his health. That was a devastating injury and how does the injury affect his game. Part of his game is his legs. He rushed for 600 yards in 2017 when they went undefeated. Can he and will he have that element of his game?

Secondly, what does Tennessee want to do offensively and does he think he's a good fit at Tennessee. I don't know if that's what Tennessee is wanting out of a quarterback, of course based on this year, I'm not sure anyone knows what they want.

No thank you. If we can’t get Bailey or Salter prepared to be our starting QB I highly doubt this guy would be much better.
We could always use depth, besides there is a good chance that Harrison Bailey is the only returning scholarship QB, so we would need to bring in one, maybe two transfers.

If Bailey knows what’s good for him, he’ll do the same. He needs to play for a real coach.
As the father of a college football player I totally agree. I'm torn because I want what is best for the program, which I think Bailey absolutely is. On the other hand, I have the luxury of a different perspective as a parent. We have seen too many highly ranked players languish and falter under substandard coaching...not just with this regime, but dating back to Dooley. I cannot stand to see kids waste their opportunity on poor development and scheme. It pains me to say, that there are signs in the limited time we've witnessed of Baileys regression since he committed. Maybe reps is all he needs, but does anyone really believe at this point Weinke can develop this kid into an elite QB? I hope so...but I don't know.

Oops. Need Freak advice. Placed Knighted Hopeful link in Around the NCAA earlier today. Tough trying to figure how to handle a breaking story.

if he's healthy, sure. i would imagine the QB room thins out a little bit headed in to next year, and depth/competition is never a bad thing.

if he's not healthy and isn't what he once was, i'm not sure it's worth it.....but ourQB room next year is gonna be Bailey...salter and some combinatio of shrout/mauer....i don't think both will be back next year, if either?

so if we are realistically going in to next year with the prospect of what will essentially be a RS FR and a TR FR as our QB's....yeah, we need to take a transfer. just a matter of finding the right fit.

During last UCF game the announcers said that Milton says he’s at 90% right now. That’s just the player saying that but just FYI

If he's looking for a guarantee of being the starter, I say pass. If he's okay with competition and the best man starts, I'm on board.
