As the father of a college football player I totally agree. I'm torn because I want what is best for the program, which I think Bailey absolutely is. On the other hand, I have the luxury of a different perspective as a parent. We have seen too many highly ranked players languish and falter under substandard coaching...not just with this regime, but dating back to Dooley. I cannot stand to see kids waste their opportunity on poor development and scheme. It pains me to say, that there are signs in the limited time we've witnessed of Baileys regression since he committed. Maybe reps is all he needs, but does anyone really believe at this point Weinke can develop this kid into an elite QB? I hope so...but I don't know.
I don't believe that.

He's been running scout team for UCF this year, he'll still have plenty of time to get back to 100% and knock off the rust before next year.

I think he'd be an excellent addition, but I think it's important to see what we have for Bailey. If Bailey shows promise, I'd rather ride with him for 2-4 more years than one year of Milton. If he doesn't, well then sign me up.

As is your right. I'm just telling you my impression from the limited reps we've gotten to see. Hopefully reps is all he needs, and we'll see the kid that was so impressive at the camps. First team reps can work wonders.

I do believe he has all the tools to be the one we've waited for...I just don't have any faith in the QB room not to screw him up.

I definitely understand that perspective, but that is quite different than seeing him regress from when he committed.

I am speaking of footwork, and confidence specifically. Part of that may be adjustment to the college game, but I have personally witnessed bad QB coaching effect a player drastically and in short order. You can sometimes coach out what works in reality by coaching up what works in theory. In Baileys case you may have too many guys giving input, and one or two shouldn't even be involved.
<<<<< Saw it with that guy. It took a former UT QB to fix it.

I’d say a lot of it has to do with very few live snaps at this level + processing a new playbook + processing the speed of the college game.

I think he’s looked poised up to this point. We’ll find out more the rest of the season.

We'll see...I hope you're right. I've been excited after watching a lot of his film for him to get his chance. He may have enough in the tank to overcome some suspect QB coaching.

This year doesn't count for ANY player because of Covid-19. He'll be a RS Freshman next year anyway, no matter how many games he plays.
If I understand correctly, he will actually be a freshman as far as eligibility is concerned not a redshirt freshman.

Would be intriguing but I’d like to see what HB looks like these last three games before deciding if we need a transfer QB that would be coming in expecting to start. I do think we should take one for depth reasons, HB is the only QB on the current roster I see coming back next year.

Like we discussed in another thread - I’d be more interested in Darriel Mack, their other transfer QB
...

Ive seen a lot of Mack, and there’s a reason why he got beat out by a true freshman and two other transfer QBs after returning from his ankle injury. He can’t throw accurately on a consistent basis. it would be like bringing in a transfer JG.

Lol

Hubbs doesn't know if we want a mobile QB, yet we keep trying to land a dual threat QB.

We must want a dual threat QB in title only without the actual mobility.

Wait... we already have that. (JG)
I really wish the would get rid of that term dual threat. Trevor Lawerence is considered a pocket passer and he runs just fine. Justin Fields was considered a dual threat and he can spin the ball with the best of them. JG was a dual threat and he looks as goofy as Casey Clausen out there running the ball.

UCF QB Milton says he is transferring to FSU

As for the quarterback position, Milton said he was not guaranteed a starting job. Florida State played four different quarterbacks this season: James Blackman, Jordan Travis and freshmen Chubba Purdy and Tate Rodemaker. Travis has started the bulk of the games, while Blackman has already announced his intention to transfer.

Not afraid to compete. Probably a good move for him.
Hope he does well there.
