Higgins: More than just a bump for Saban

Our guys are known for being rule stretchers as well, so you can't really blame them. IIRC, Orgeron was the one who came up with the "Mormon Grade Grab" that almost every college employs to get kids qualified now.

Educate me...what is this?

A player takes like a ten day course over the internet from BYU, which is basically reading a passage and answering a few questions about it from what I understand, and it replaces an entire class from high school, making it possible to completely rebuild a kids GPA within a month or two.

Nice. Thanks. I knew there were tricks like that just not that it was from BYU.

You know, after reading so many posts about how innocent a fog machine and mock press conference really are (and I agree), it makes me chuckle to read so many of you in utter outrage over the "extended" bump. I'm not flaming anyone but, come on, you have to admit it is funny.

Would this be a secondary violation or primary?

Therein would lie whether people are overreacting or not.

There seems like a heck of a lot more interaction than just a hi, how ya doin'? I mean they're talking about the Dolphins & yadda yadda yadda.......bada bing, bada boom, DEATH PENALTY! I hope they get it. I'll celebrate for a week if they do.

I completely agree and let me be the first to say that I don't have a clue either way. But I don't think that others here do either, yet some of the posts kinda crack me up because I don't think it would matter to them one way or the other.

I don't either. One of the recruiting gurus would be able to shine more light in that regard.

I vote Death Penalty either way. :D

I think CLK has just really put us in a bind recruiting wise, by flaunting UT recruiting successes like Nukese Richardson, Darren Myles and Janzen Jackson and by talking too much about the trickery used to land these guys. Word is Myles is trying to get out of his LOI and Jackson feels lied to as well. Plus, now we've got the entire sports media watching UT recruiting and everything CLK says like a bunch of vultures just waiting for a big slip up! I sure hope CLK and staff keep things sqeaky clean! I'm real worried about CLK's credibility and reputation with recruits going forward, too. I just don't think CLK is off to a very good start. JMHO.

"They didn't really talk," Cole told the Press-Register. "(Saban) said, 'Hey, how you doing?' and 'I can't talk to him right now.' Really, it was like, 'Hey, my name is Keiwone Malone, and that was it.'"

"I had on my Dolphins hat, and he liked my favorite team, so we kind of bonded a little bit," Malone told the Commercial Appeal last week. "And when he started talking to me, I started liking the stuff that he was saying."

Hmmmm, sounds like more than a 'bump' to me....

Oh well, Saban will get a pass anyway. The SEC is to busy trying to put the new boy (CLK) in his place for stuff like pissing off other SEC coaches and, ooops calling a recruit by his name.... go figure...

Sorry if I comitted a secondary violation by posting a quote from the article. If I did, I promise I'll formally apologize later...

So, do you have proof of these things?
