By the way, the press conference that is occurring on the 13th isn't a groundbreaking release, it's a simple status update.

Nothing to see here.

Ha. I take it that science is not your forte? It's not as complex as it appears.

i didn't mind the mathematics in chemistry and physics, but biology and the other practical parts of science never took. I was more of a history/english guy.

Dude, that's how I was too. Biology was sooooooo boring to me. Chemistry came so easy.

Ah, gotcha. I was best at mathematics and physics. I ended up getting a degree in BCMB, go figure.

Favorite part of high school was dissecting a cat in Advanced A&P 2. I was terrible at chem. Didn't take physics until college. Math scared the piss out of me.

Trying to watch the webcast of the CERN seminar and apparently the people that invented the internet didn't prepare for such a large amount of people to view online. Also, the use of comic sans kind of invalidates everything... lol.

Hints of Higgs boson at 126 GeV. That's the conclusion for today.

126 GeV falls into the range which lends support for the Standard Particle Model to continue. Supersymmetry, string theory, and M-Theory are building stronger cases everyday.

Honestly, have you ever seen a more qualified statement?

Your choice. You can believe in science, a belief that doesn't ever assert itself to be absolute truth, but is constantly seeking to forward its thinking and uncover evidence to determine the many truths of the universe.

OR

You can take your choice of many books out there, that are "more qualified statements" by stating themselves as absolute truth with absolutely no evidence to support their assertions.

Oh for Pete's Sake - I wasn't doubting science; making a pro-religion statement or anything like that. I was commenting on the particular statement as worded - it is highly, highly conditional.

I do research, I write hypotheses, I test hypotheses and I discuss the results. I understand the nature of scientific statements. I was commenting on that one particular statement that was written with so many if's.

I don't think he was trying to undermine science. From his other posts he seems to be pro-science. Just pointing out how theoretical the frontier of physics and ultimately science really is.

:hi: and that particular statement. if this is true then it may be evidence that this could be true and if that is true then it may lead to some evidence that this is true and if that turns out to be true it could.... anyway you slice it that statement has crazy long conditional chain.

Sorry. I am a politics forum novice, and I was unfamiliar with your stance. I mistook your statement.

As an experiment I took the statement in question and moved a couple values around while keeping all the ifs and possibles and discovered with that template there's a very real possibility I'll be banging Mila Kunis in the next 10 days...on Saturn. :)
