High probability Ark loss ended TN chance for final 12

GA and Bama certainly do and will exploit the weaknesses even more than OU and Arky.

Luckily, FL and KY may not have the coaching talent to take as much advantage. We will see next week.

My concern is hitting the drawing board means new plays, new reads to make, new routes, etc which without a ton of practice can mean missed assignments, timing that's off, reads that are off, etc. I'm not sure how much retooling we need to keep the 3-3-5 honest but the meat of the SEC season isn't a great time for major changes.

I agree that coaching talent may be questionable? Stoops is no dummy when it comes to D side of the ball though

Do both have more talented players than Arkansas on paper though? I would assume KY and Arky are roughly in the same ballpark and FL indeed does

I am also worried that choosing to concede the TD demoralizes our defense and will come back to bite us in the butt later. Kind of not good when you have obviously put the game on their shoulders to change course in the last 90 seconds of the game.

Looking at TN remaining schedule, the only sure win is probable UTEP. No better than 50% chance on three, and worse than that on...well you know. LOL
Est Odds: win/lose
FLA-50/50
A-30/70
K-50/50
MS-60/40
G-25/75
UTEP-100/0
V-45/55
The Arkansas loss is a hard one to swallow but we control our own destiny. I don’t think Nico is as bad as he has played the past two games and our D line should be better vs Florida.

Surely you are not saying FL and KY is a 50-50 game . The spread is 16 so Vegas still thinks we are a good team.

And KY? Not a pickem, neither.

The sun came up today and will tomorrow.

It’s Florida week!

Our D had kept us in the game but the time factor was not in our favor. They could've ran it down to the point that getting to FG range would've been miraculous.

With FL I hope Billy keeps losing his grip on his job this week internally and he loses the team even more.

I think a win against FL will do a lot to calm the Vols and the fans. I know it will calm me down if Heupel comes out with a more aggressive gameplan...... and it works.

Both Bama and Georgia look beatable this year.

Just not by us.

Really not sure what happened to this team, but something got broken right around halftime of the Oklahoma game. Whatever that was has sent this team into a tailspin Playing scared
I think conservative play on defense and offense is what happened. It all started with the Okl game.

At this point I would say, yes Ky is a 50-50 game cause it is at Ky. It appears Hype plays much more conservative on the road than at home. If we play our a game, we can beat any team in the country. But the last two games we have not brought our a game.

How much was Bama favored over Vandy. As bad as our loss to Ark was, still not as bad as Bama loss to Vandy.
Not sure what you are referring. My point is we are a 15 point favorite so the odds of TN beating FL is beyond 50%. And def beyond 50% chance of beating KY.

It’s not that Tennessee lost. A close loss in a hostile road environment in some cases is excusable. The revelation that our offensive efficiency in the first 3 cupcake games was definitively fools gold is the reason odds makers are confident this team has no chance at making the playoffs. Tennessee couldn’t move the ball on Arkansas with two weeks preparation… Who actually thinks this oline fairs any better against Florida, Bama, Georgia… hell anybody for that matter? 7-5 is a real probability.

You dudes are underestimating how bad we looked last night. Hell for the last two weeks. Josh has gone more conservative than he was with Joe. We'll probably lose 3 more games, based off the last two weeks. Play calling and OL are absolute trash.

Lol the same fans screaming "we're going undefeated we'll kill AL/GA" after a few middling wins are the ones screaming this team sucks Heupel sucks! After a tough road loss. Just clowns. Get hold of your emotions people.
Tennessee scoring only 14 points against ANYBODY isn’t just a „tough road loss“. That was pure humiliation
Something ain’t right

Maybe Heupel started reading his own press clippings about how he had a team capabale of winning knock down drag out games

Call it what you want, but the over reactions are simply irrational, juvenile and misinformed.

Just like screaming we're going undefeated when we've proven nothing. It betrays an innate lack of understanding of the game.

Every year, we have one road game where we are solid favorites but end up laying an egg against a team we should handle easily. It is getting tiresome.
It’s one thing to lose a toss up game on the road or lose to a Georgia or Alabama.
You cannot afford to lose to Arkansas, Missouri, or South Carolina and have aspirations of sitting at the big boys table. (Yes I know Bama lost to Vanderbilt last night; but lest not act like that wasn’t a once in a generation upset).
You have to „hold serve“ in games where you are a double digit favorite.
We just showed we are still in that second tier of the SEC

We play Kentucky at Neyland Stadium.

They were still on the 11-12 yard line. Means it would have been about a 30 yard FG. For a backup kicker.

Stuff them a time or two and move it back a yard or two.

I would say 75% chance it was made with all the factors. That 25% chance of a miss is still magnitudes greater than I had for our offense driving the length of the field in 75 seconds after not doing squat all game.

Trust me, I understand the logic behind what Heupel did. I just think it's gonna make the D kinda say WTH? We put the game on their shoulders for basically 58 plus minutes then punked out. If you're gonna put everything on their shoulders and tell them to win you the game, then you have to follow through.

Nominee for most asinine post of the day.

Extra points for actually starting a thread to post it.

Ok.

I don't see what that has to do with the point I'm making.

I didn’t think The Legion of the Miserable would be in full effect, yet here they are. Many of you remind me of my teenage daughter who couldn’t find her volleyball jersey earlier this week and had an absolute meltdown. It was the end of the world!!!!!!! Oh wait…it was in her car. Grow up. Giving us a less than 50% chance to beat Vandy is just you enjoying being dramatic and sulking.
