Highlights: Passing game vs Austin Peay

I'm just gonna choose to believe that the game plan for AP involving so many screen passes is Heupel playing chess. Both UVA and AP we did a ton of short passes with none of those long wide open bombs we've become accustomed to from last season. Florida is gonna bite on those screen passes and Joe is launch bombs to wide open receivers all day.

If the ball is within the frame if the body of the receiver, and they can touch it with both hands, it is not on the QB. Do you honestly think that every completion is on a perfect pass by the QB? Do you watch football? You are definitely one of an extreme minority that only saw two passes that were dropped and were the receivers fault. Take off the I want Nico shirt and watch the video again.

I’m good. I saw the video and I know football. Glad to look at any specific pass on the video and discuss in detail.
Which one do you want to make your point on? We can have open discussion without criticizing anyone. It’s my opinion vs yours

He couldn't put the foot on the gas. How many times has Heupel throw 20 wr screens in a game? Keep making excuses, believe. I use to too. Milton sucks has for 6 years straight. The coach saw it, and made him throw screens the rest of the game to protect the lead.
Hey Clemson, what do you think of this superior football knowledge?

Yeah, he was terrible last year. How could we possibly accept 64% completions 10 tds and 0 interceptions. How atrocious not making excuses, but I am also not wearing my "I Hate Joe Milton, bring in Nico now!" Shirt either. The moronic statements that Heupel can't make decisions about the right QB statements are also driven by complete ignorance. Continue to feel how you do. I will never understand how you people's minds just don't shut down from the negativity. I guess we will see on Saturday whether the offensive scheme we saw against AP is permanent. BTW, he did stomp his foot on the gas on two series in the second half. We ran our normal offense at our normal pace and we scored 2 touchdowns with about 130 yards in 2:31 seconds total between the two drives.

Middle screen to Jabari Small. Dropped it with a convoy in front of him. Throw to Bru in the LH corner, uncalled PI. Throw to right corner of endzone, defender ran through receiver, uncalled PI. Also, please show me a single play that has the normal multi-level deep routes. They weren't there. Beyond that, just go ahead and continue your mindset. Dislike whomever you wish. If Nico comes in and struggles at all, you guys will do the same to him. More power to you.

Stats in mop up duty are misleading. Tell me this. In his 6 years of college can you name one good performance that isn't a terrible Clemson team with a freshman making his first start? You have 6 years to pick from, pick just one.

I'm not on the bring on Nico train btw. He's not ready. I'm just saying Joe Milton sucks, has for 6 years straight.

You, and those like you came into this season with the preconceived mindset that you did not want Milton as a starter and wanted Nico to start. Because of that, every play that is not picture perfect is critiqued and analyzed to death. I am not going to change your mind nor you mine. I am not one that enjoys inane conversations, so this one goes into the category of agree to disagree. I trust the coach to make whatever decision is best for the team.

I said I wasn't on the Nico bandwagon either. Have never seen him play. I have seen Joe Milton play several times in 6 years and he's always sucked. That's all I'm saying, Milton ain't it. The freshman ain't ready, I get it. UT is stuck with Milton, but he still sucks.

You didn't name one good performance because you can't. He's never had one, in 6 years. He has however been benched twice by two former QB head coaches. Hmmmm

He has played in a total of 5 full games. You discount his MVP performance in the Orange Bowl so what us the point of furthering this discussion. Who would you suggest play? Gaston Moore.....Navy Schuler? This is such a pointless discussion with you. Read my previous post. No point in responding, this conversation is done.

So in 6 years he can't get on the field with all that talent? Hmmmmmmmm Hmmmmmmmm

I didn't suggest anyone, I'm just saying Joe Milton sucks, always has.

Just me, or does it look like he feels the pressure, and his timing or accuracy is off cause he's throwing it as hard as he can? Instead of leading the receiver. He's throwing it at the receiver.

As I stated, nothing he does will satisfy you. Your mindset is completely foreign to me. I pull for whomever is playing as they are members of my favorite team. To actively want a player to fail, which hurts the team itself is very counterproductive. Again, don't bother responding if you expect a response as it is time to permanently end the conversation. Naskledano.

I counted the screen to Small as one of the two passes that were on target and should have been caught. The other two you mentioned were defensive PIs that weren’t called. Both were thrown low and behind the receiver which made them have to try to go back to the ball and allowed DB to break it up. Are you blaming those on the WRS? The ball never got to them

Yeah, you're right. Who possibly couldn't expect to complete. Your right our QB is terrible and so is our coach for keeping him in. Maybe you will get your way and they will all turn over. Gosh how could we have though that we actually have a good coach. Oh, dear.....the toilet bowl is our only possibility, that is if this sorry excuse of a team can even win 6 games. Appreciate your incredible insight to this disaster. 😭 😭 Woe is us.

The deep ball wasn't there. Heupel pointed that out in his presser, but mentioned how players were open in the middle that Joe never attempted. I think that will be most teams plan. Take away the deep ball and see what he can do underneath and with the run game.

EVERYONE knows Joe can throw it a country mile

Was pretty good after the first quarter, same as uva game. Needs to settle down a bit early in games and receivers need to help him out more. We’ll be ready this weekend.

I haven’t said or thought any of those things other than the really bad QB play. Heupel is excellent and the team has tons of talent. Nico will be the guy at some point but he’s most likely not ready yet.
Hopefully Joe can play better this week.
The whole team (other than Beasley) needs to play better if we’re going to have a good season

Well, I just wanted to sound like you guys for a change. I get it, you don't like Milton. Your right. I just decide to judge one game at a time.

I don’t dislike Milton. I just want to see us playing the way we are capable of playing and winning. We know what this offense can do with good Qb play. Would love to see him be successful. We need him to be

That was hard to watch just like the game because every way a drive could get killed happened. I think about 4 to 5 missed throws. I think 4 to 5 dropped balls. 2 PIs not called. Fumble. Holding, albeit maybe only 1 was real. Offensive PI that was junk because of the player location. Guys could be trying to hard to match last year to prove themselves. Relax and play ball.

I never I said want him to fail nor do I root against him. I wish he was the Heisman QB the medias tried to make him. I'm just calling a duck a duck and Milton sucks.

Thanks for that. I wasn’t able to see the first half. I’m not nearly as worried now as I was after all of the posts. It’s not like Milton was air balling receivers by 8 or 10 yards or throwing short into the dirt. He was hitting most where they could still get two hands on the ball albeit not where they were expecting it. At this level, I feel, never having played the position, if it hits you in both hands you SHOULD have a high probability of securing a catch…but we didn’t on most of those “bad balls” and still didn’t on several that were put on the money. Seems like, again…to me, it was an off day possibly brought on by overlooking a bad team and assuming we can sleep walk through the game and still win convincingly. Which we did.

On to the gators!!!!

I think it’s a timing/chemistry issue with WRs more than accuracy. They’ve missed too much fall practice time. StoernerFumbles said they missed practice time last week too. They need to get on the practice field and get in sync.

Man, after watching that, our WRs were terrible. Milton wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought. They’ve missed way too much practice. Nut up, quit being prime donnas, and get on the practice field. Otherwise, play Webb and Nimrod.
