Slice you almost look like an outdoorsman.
It looks like a cool place. Is it an easy float or do you have to pay attention and etc.?

An outdoorsman would catch bigger fish. Instead of small bluegill

There's big smallmouth in those creeks. I caught a 3+ pounder earlier this summer on a spinner bait.

I really enjoy river and steam fishing from my kayak. It's about the only way to truly get away from everyone. When I'm feeling really redneck I take my two man kayak and a 32 qt cooler with a battery powered aerator in the front seat. I'll catch the big stoneroller creek minnows and fish them with just a hook. They're very hearty and the smallies love them. I'll even use them when their 6-7 inches long.
Crawfish are awesome too and you catch everything on them.

Beautiful photos, Windy. Where are those falls? That's gorgeous.

Edit: the big falls.

Havasu Falls in Arizona. On tribal lands where you have to book your reservation to even hike in, well in advance as they only allow a few daily. 10 mile hike in.

Sure.....I do it as often as I can. The caught the smallie I was telling you about on a creek that empties into the Caney just below Betty's Island....if you're familiar with that area.

Yes.
I usually just drift from the dam to happy hallow

I haven't caught any smallmouth in forever, they're not around me down here.

What kind of kayak are you using.
We’re in Nucanoe’s.

I've got two and both are cheap and made by Swifty. I'd say they're one step up from the Pelican brand sold everywhere. I prefer my two man on the Caney since it's a straight easy float. It can get a little cumbersome though in a creek with tight turns and etc.

I haven't floated that stretch in a very long time. I typically float Happy Hollow to Betty's Island.

Lately, I've been parking on the side of the road and just wading. When you get about a mile from the dam the river makes a sweeping right turn and I usually fish the area right after the turn.
