Hiking Thread

We went to this one as well when we hiked Mt. Mitchell.

Don't recognize this one, pretty, will have to check it out.

Its located on the same road as the campground. When turning off main road, immediate left after crossing little bridge. drive to end of road park on left, do not block gate. hike up trail about .5 mile (well maintained service road, except for the down tree detour) cross the wooden bridge on right, hike back to falls about .1 mile. This is one of my favorite waterfalls to hike to. Great height, flow, color of foliage.

We did Buffalo Mtn, WhiteRock Lookout today. Man Im outta shape. Summer is here, it was hot as can be. Not much wind on that trail.

We went to 4 places in Oconee County SC on Saturday, there are so many different waterfalls in this county, and we will have to go back to explore more. Saw 7 waterfalls at the 4 places. The pictures are from the first place, all 4 different sections of the waterfall. Very short hike, wish it was longer because it would be such a rewarding hike.

It looks like an awesome spot!!! I agree on the trail length. It is better when its a longer hike, making it less traveled (# of people) & more enjoyable.

We did Dennis Cove/ Laurel Fork Falls on Wen. It was great. The water was a little down, making for an easier time at the 3 river crossings.

something about a waterfall; no matter how big or small; I love 'em all

(how's that for some hillbilly poetry)

ROCKY TOP!!!! Man this hike is brutal, 15 miles roundtrip with over 4000' elevation gain. The views, if clear, are AMAZING. Spence Field has a great view as well. Rhodendrums were in full bloom. I counted 7 different colors. I carried my Orange & White Brick. I regretted that soon into the hike.

Hiked Rainbow Falls in the ice and snow Friday. Amazed at all the people there with little kids and laughed at girls wearing fashion boots like they were going to the mall. Needless to say they didn't make it very far

It is actually NW SC in the Mountain Bridge Wilderness area, three great state parks there with lots of good hiking.

That's my stomping grounds. I lived near Jones Gap State Park, right off River Falls Rd, for a short time in my childhood. Still go up there all the time.

Next time you're in the area, check out the park, as well as Falls Creek Falls - Falls Creek Falls near Greenville, SC

I can't recall if we have been to Falls Creek Falls, but all the state parks up there we have been to - got engaged at Caesar's Head. That whole area is one of my favorites for sure, and I know we haven't been to all of it.

I might be doing a short vacation in Asheville sometime this winter. Any suggestions on nearby hikes?

Time to get back to hiking. We started yesterday to get back into hiking shape to prepare us for Machu Picchu. Also set a goal to have more hiking miles than in 2013, so our Goal for this year is 128 miles. Here we go hiking2015!

I'm always amazed at the people wearing improper shoes like those and flip flops.

My Mom hikes in flip flops, and it drives her crazy that everyone comments on it. Literally, everyone comments on it.

I love day hikes. If anybody is ever in the valley of the sun, hit me up. I'll show you some good spots.
