Hippie’s postgame report

Speculation. However, you may be right. I don’t know what had happened during preparation for the game or any details of the team’s health. Therefore I refuse to speculate on the coaches decisions
It's a message board. Go ahead and speculate. That's what we do here. In fact message boards are purely speculation. If Powell was too sick to make a shot at the end then how was he able to make those earlier shots. Did he get that much sicker in an hours time? Maybe, but I highly doubt it

You are unbelievable. You are never coming off of the Barnes is perfect stance no matter what. At this point all the rest of us can do is sit back and laugh at your ridiculous takes. You are literally on here defending the Bailey shot at the end. If you had an ounce of credibility it's gone right there.

Yes. Should have had Powell in doing his famous spin move in the paint and ally opps clanking off of the rim.

I think you just broke the record for the most ass-hat comments in a single post.

"The rest of us"? Not hardly. You're claiming general support for your point of view that simply isn't evidenced on this board.

Barnes deserves criticism at times. I don't get the constant "he can't coach posters" when obviously he is a good coach. Heaven forbid you defend him on this board lest you become a Barnes worshiper. Guess we could hire Cuonzo when he gets fired. Exciting brand of ball there.

Or we could hire Tyndall when his show-cause expires. He might win only fifteen games a year, but, for the cost-conscious crowd, we'd pay less per win on average with Tyndall than with Barnes, so they could stop complaining.

Powell made some shots in the game and shoots a good percentage despite the fact that he has other short comings. Bailey brings nothing to the table. Please tell me why he is even out there? Seriously, give me one reason why.

It's one of those conundrums with Barnes. Clearly, we are not in the game without his skill as a coach. His preparation, game planning, development, motivation, etc. were excellent for the game, putting us in a position to win the game. Then, he makes questionable decisions at a couple of points which, arguably, helped us lose. You have to give credit for his ability to get us there, but it frustrates you when something as obvious as not calling a play out of a timeout for Bailey at the end of a game you are down 2. It's the same with his March Madness issues. It's wonderful we are getting to the tournament. But, then how do you quantify this success with underachieving in the tournament regularly? How do you talk with your kid who gets B+ on his report card, knowing he should get an A?

And get some kind of weird, who knows where the hell that came from, pronunciation of Vols.

3. Uros Plavsic absolutely proved he can be a solid piece to this team. I’m tired of hearing about BHH > Plavsic because I’m really just not seeing it. BHH has the better offensive game but I’d put every other asset to Plav. Plav had 6p 9r and was +5 in 20min. Tonight.
BHH has 8p 2r and was -5 in 15 minutes. If Plav plays like he did tonight I don’t see any argument BHH should play more.
GBO.

Maybe I'm getting old, or not into stats enough to try to understand what ortg, or whatever other metrics are used on here, but I think the +/- system makes a lot of sense (unless certainly players go in and out at the same times). If used properly, it can keep coaching from playing "favorites". What matters is, do they help advance their team, or not.

If you asked me, I would have said that BHH had the better game or at worst about the same, but this metric says otherwise. I think this is part of why Plavsic played, and BHH didn't so much, in the 2nd half. I guess BHH's defense/rebounding is still lacking, similar to the situation with Powell.

I believe it is an effort thing with BHH. You can forgive mental lapses and physical deficiencies as a coach much more than lack of effort. A player can't control everything around him but he can control effort. I think he can be a great player but he has to decide how much he wants it.

calling this loss on barnes is assinine at best... masterful coaching job with a team without its leader... Alabama had no answer for anything he did..

Then you should be all over 85’s posts. He’s chronic with his bashing BS.
I'm referring to your points. Yes, Barnes got a lot of deserved criticism last night. He would have gotten a ton of praise if someone had not slipped a stupid pill in his drink with about 5 minutes left in the game last night. Like I said. We got the best and the worst of Barnes last night.

That loss counts as two if we’re battling Bama for the SEC championship.
No, it does not. UT lost to Auburn, Grant's sophomore year, tied the Tigers for first and shared the SEC Regular Season title. Now, that's true for SEC Conference Tourney seeding

There wasn’t praise in the first 35 minutes.

Go stalk 1985 if you’re triggered by somebody sticking to their position.
