HOF'er or no?

How or why the HOF makes their decisions is beyond me.
I could very well see them put Walker in primarily because he was a Rocky and they like to have good representation from all the teams.
But not sure he would even be talked about if he played for another team.

Thoughts in BOLD.

Was Gonzo linked to 'roids? I don't remember that, looking at his numbers you gotta wonder, then again, Joey Bats gets a ton of defense 'round here.

I agree on Konerko too, IF he can put together 3 more years of what he has always done, then he will have some pretty damn good numbers.

Coors Field or not, Larry had some amazing years.

Bernie is very interesting, I think he is so borderline, tough call.

My favorite are the writers that as a matter of principle never vote for anyone in their first year of eligibility - as if their credentials are going to be any different the next time around.

I agree with this, how does it change year to year? Are they saving a vote for a slow year? If that's the case, aren't they putting people in that they don't feel deserve it?

It's the kind of thinking that kept Jim Rice, Phil Niekro and Don Sutton waiting by the phone for years despite obvious credentials.

Barry Larkin as well.

They act as if the 1st time around is reserved for the best HOF players? WTF? They are either HOF players or they aren't.

Rice made no secret of his scorn for writers, i guess. Supposedly Jim Ed, the happy studio analyst, was tossing a bone to the BBWA. BS in my opinion.

So do Bagwell and Biggio get in?

Even though I think Bagwell made more of an impact, I think people hold Biggio to a higher regard. Plus, and I hate to admit it... Bagwell's appearance and improvement of power numbers appear to be a reflection of steroid use. To be fair... Biggio has had massive/veiny forearms as well even though he wasn't a power hitter. I noticed them more towards the end of his career. Regardless, the homer in me puts them both in the hall of fame. After seeing Reggie miss out on first ballet in the NBA though, I don't know how to predict this type of stuff anymore. I could see Bags missing out altogether :(

I wonder what the BBWA voting membership changes by annually? I assume it's a "keep it until you're dead" job, but still, the voting is a crock of ****.

Bagwell is the hometown hero, he should be in depending on what happens with the rest of the big names who were in question.

His 1994 season would have been among the top 4-5 offensive seasons in the live ball era.

Biggo should get in...Bagwell is a HOF player as far as numbers go but there are a lot of people that believe he used PED's.

The high horse that the BBWA sit on, I can't imagine many of them getting in, say Sosa and McGwire for sure, just don't see it.

Bonds was an all-time great before the PED's and should without question get into the Hall.

We will have some very interesting votes in the future that is for sure.

Does A-Rod make the Hall? All signs point to him doing PED's before he even made the majors, so he may not get the Bonds' treatment in that regard.

I think Biggio played 17 or 18 seasons. He also has the record for hit by pitches lol

Bagwell was 15 I believe

I can't see how he doesn't....but as you said, it depends on what they do to Bonds, McGwire, et al.

I don't see Sosa making it. I just don't think he was ever that good. The rest were impressive ballplayers outside of home runs.

Biggio performed quietly, how many full seasons did he play?

At least 140 games in 17 years, not bad out of 20 seasons, another year at 134 and his lowest game total was 101, excluding his rookie year of 50 games.

Extremely durable for a guy that got beaned as much as he did.
