Honest opinion on Selby...

For the love of Christ... there is no such thing. What the hell are we, South Carolina?

When did SC finish first in the East? Been a while. The SEC recognizes winning a division as a championship. Never said it equaled job security, just that the guy above didn't say anything that wasn't accurate unless the Squid is Calipari. Pearl is 2-2.

... aren't they going to hang a banner, too? I like their bball coach, but I really hate that loser ass athletic program.
I'm sure they'll raise a banner. Hell, they acted like back to back NIT titles were something to celebrate.

Find me a picture of the trophy you get for it, sport.

I don't know about trophies or banners that you hang, but if you look at the final standings, they denote sec east or west "champions." I never said that it was something to celebrate, just that ya'll were wrong to give that guy a hard time, because his statements were accurate. Again, unless the Squid is Calipari.

No, they weren't. If someone wants to be dense enough to call winning the East an SEC championship, which it isn't, they're going to get ripped. Hopefully, the beatdown he received was sufficiently vicious to ensure he never comes back.

Hell, even the UT Football Media Guide, which counts National Titles bestowed years after the fact, doesn't try to pass winning the East off as a championship.

He's a Vol fan, not a jort-wearing gator, and therefore deserves to be treated better.

I can think of millions of reasons why BP should have been minding the store at home instead of coaching at the Macabee Games.

A couple million per year, actually.

I appreciate his coaching in those games as a celebration of his faith. However, if that conflicts or causes a disruption with his head-coaching duties, then he shouldn't have taken the job.

Until this fiasco with BP coaching there, I had never even heard the words, "Macabee Games" - and neither had some 2 billion others, apparently. In comparison, there are hermits in Guam who've heard of the Olympics.
So, stop comparing this to Coach K's stint with the US Olympic team. It makes your already nonsensical rationalizing of his absence seem even dumber than it first appears. So stop with it.

Yeah, I bet you're really well versed in the talents of college basketball assistants. Just another mouthbreathing Pearlophile raging against the truth. It was fun participating in the destruction of The Fired Coach. Watching the collapse of Tanning Bed is going to be even more enjoyable. In closing, you have neither the intellect, the credibility, nor the seniority around here to tell anyone to do anything or go anywhere.

This is where we differ, Hat. I understand very clearly that you don't like Pearl personally and feel he is a subpar coach. And like most people with any sense, we could all sense it was time for Phil to move on; however, I don't see how it could have been enjoyable watching Fulmer let the program sink to low levels, and I don't see how watching Pearl fail could possibly be something that I would enjoy seeing. I hope Pearl wins every game; maybe it's just the difference in people.

I also hope Pearl wins big. I hope I hit the Powerball tomorrow night. However, I live in reality. Tanning Bed is nothing more than a carnival barker version of his mentor Tom Davis. Thus, he's going to fall into mediocrity whether or not I want UT to win. Thus, watching his career melt will lessen the blow of seeing the program sink.

I took absolutely no pleasure in watching the football program disintegrate. I rooted for them every Saturday. I did, however, richly enjoy watching Fulmer suffer as it collapsed around him.

Haha.. I understand. That's a fair opinion. And I wasn't questioning your fanhood; I was just questioning if you're hatred of particular coaches caused you to possibly hope we lose so that they will get fired. But, you have a perfectly valid position; we just happen to disagree. :hi:

Edit: just to add, Fulmer's post-coaching activities of trying to remain in the spotlight cause me to share the same feelings as you on that front.

3 SEC East Championships in 4 years and 1 overall SEC title (no SEC tourney champ.). I assume that's what he's referring to. I too am curious about the squid.

Hat, BigPapa, how is anything he said untrue/lies/fantasy, etc.?
The championships was dead wrong and the piece about his staff was almost funny. As far as getting the program to new heights, he is essentially where Jerry Green was but added a 1 week stint as #1. Anything else?

Coaching and winning a tourney is the same no matter where you are. The USA dream team was beaten by GREECE 2 years ago. Coaching, competition, and winning is intense no matter where you are. Coaching a tourny was good for CBP.

Selby never knew whose junk he wanted to ride anyways. If we play him one day, I can't wait to see how many times he turns it over to UT's full court press

Let me start by saying that I support Pearl and think he has done a good job thus far; however, I can not rationally and intellectually declare the gold medal in the Jew games as a net plus for the Vols. We lost our most prized recruit in many years while Pearl was at those games. Your ridiculous comments not only make yourself look stupid but also reflect poorly on those of us that support Pearl. I would just suggest that you comment on things of which you have a clue.

Quit chastising him. He's the demographic that will allow those of us who are rational to dispose of Pearl even sooner than we executed Fulmer.

Who do you have in mind for a replacement? I was REALLY hoping Pearl was going to Memphis this offseason.

I have multiple answers in mind. It would depend on when Pearl is done here.
