We have a bunch of enlightened intelligent posters on this board. They can bash and belittle our players and coaches with the best of them. They can issue death threats to players, boo our team in front of prospects and make anyone who is in Orange wish they had gone to another school. They bellow at the top of their lungs to FIRE Pearl, FIRE Hamilton, FIRE Dooley, FIRE Summitt, FIRE the janitor or FIRE whoever they see as a solution to lead them to the promised land. Really smart. They bash Crompton, Ainge, Prince, Hopson, Steven Pearl, McBee, Josh Bone and on and on. We just can't get enough of these Einsteins' rantings because we can learn so much from them. A lesson for these ne'er do well players and coaches is "give your all for Tennessee and get........(Insert your own venom).

my only complaint w/ hopson is that he's lazy. that's it. if he played/trained hard, then everything else will fall into place

Exactly. It would be different if he played hard 100% and was still a bust.

Ill say this, it could explain some of the dribbling/handling woes. No?

No. Kobe Bryant actually broke a finger on his shooting hand. Did he suddenly start dribbling the ball of his feet and getting it stolen every time a defender came within 5 feet of him while he was dribbling? No. There wasn't any discernible difference.

Hopson isn't exactly kobe. I broke my ring finger on my shooting hand last year and it really bothered my shot.

I wasn't comparing the two on how good they are. I also didn't mention the impact on his shot. I noted that Kobe's dribbling skills weren't effected. Hopson's weren't either because he never had any to begin with. That was the point.

It may have, I wasn't paying attention to his ball handling throughout the year. I was just going by personal experience, and it really bothered me.

It's proven by watching him play. His ball-handling didn't get worse as the year went on. It was consistently bad all year.

If the finger had been hurt so bad that it resulted in Hopson performing as poorly as he did at times this season, I highly doubt the coaches would have continued to allow him on the floor. Especially if it happened as early in the season as the Auburn game. It's more like, "I didn't play great...oh yeah, I hurt my finger three months ago, ouch!"

Exactly, if he's using that as an excuse now, it's pathetic.

what a joke. different people are affected differently by different situations. Hopsons could have been more severe, or it could have just bothered him more. Kobe is one of, if not the best basketball player in the NBA. anyone would expect him to deal with injury much better than any sophomore in college.

Way to miss the point. Read down a couple posts from the one you quoted, and there I spell my point out for you.

Also, I doubt Hopson's dislocated finger was worse than Kobe's broken finger. But maybe that's just me.

You need both hands to shoot. Your offhand is your guide hand and the pinky is more important than most people think. Not trying to make his excuse for him, but it's unfair to say he should have just shrugged it off. If anything, blame the medical staff for not telling him to sit out.

A disclocated finger on your off-hand is not an excuse to play poorly. Anyone who has played competitive basketball knows this. Probably one of the weakest injuries a basketball player can sustain.
