Hopson dropping

He is in NJ working out for scouts. Who knows what the scouts are telling him. I remember when Hopson was playing for the USA Select team going up against the US national team and Jay Bilas, among others, said Scotty was the most impressive athlete and the most fluid player on the select team. I would venture to say if Scotty hires an agent, he is hearing some more reliable information than any of us know.

I've voiced my displeasure with Hopson's play many times on this board. With that said, that statement is just ridiculous. You have no idea about Scotty's ego, and seeing himself picked dead last in the draft on the NBA draft sites would hardly be stroking his ego.

if you have watched him play and listened to him do interviews then you know his ego. he's not even ready to be brought into the NBA discussion. he had what, like 7 turnovers in the florida game in the sec tourney? how is that NBA material? by telling a guy like that, that he is ready for the NBA is stroking his ego.

Agree to disagree... Hopson is without question the most athletic and talented(raw as it may be) player to come to The Hill in a LONG, LONG time...

We should probably wait until the nba workouts before we look at a mock draft moving him down.

Didn't read through the entire thread but I believe only first round picks get guaranteed money.

I don't know how fair it is for us to sit in the stands or watch on TV and declare that he's just lazy like it's a character flaw. Effort isn't just an inborn trait; it's a skill (or habit, at least) that you have to develop just like any other. I don't really know much about his high school/AAU career, but he strikes me as someone who's so supremely athletically gifted that the game has always been effortless for him, and he's never been put in a situation where's been forced to learn to work hard at it. So he didn't.[/QUOTE

say what you want...i've watched him replay after replay...he's very lazy.

Y'all kill me. Everyone was on the bandwagon when Scotty came to Knoxville. The University has failed this young man, the coaching staff failed to help him improve his game, and the Vol basketball program is facing sanctions. Now that he may be moving on, y'all are trashing him. Classy.

this is the reason i wasn't crushed when Pearl left. don't get me wrong i loved the man and he did great things for our basketball program, BUT you can't have players like, Chris Lofton, Wayne Chism, and maybe Scotty and not develop them into the professional players that they could be. given that Lofton did get sick but there is no excuse for why Chism isn't playing pro and who knows what will become of Scotty Hopson.

He has NBA talent; there's absolutely no question about that. And, Scotty Hopson doesn't seem any more egotistical than any other college basketball player I've seen. He has a lot of development to go, but he's definitely NBA material.
