Hopson facebook status. (not good)

Hey, if you are just looking for anything to bash Hopson, you grab at straws. Being a drama queen is the last of Hopson's concerns.

It seems like you're interpreting a simple FB status as a grand and official proclamation. This is an exciting time for him and people post what's going on on FB. I don't see how you could interpret "Closer to my dreams!" as being prima donna, cocky, or an attempt to start drama.

Nowhere in my post did I indicate fb status as a grand official proclamation. Quite the opposite- as it would be refreshing if he issued a grand & official proclamation instead of craving attention concerning his intentions of going pro.

True. Effort should be his first and as Jewishreggae posted in another thread this should be next of his concerns in no particular order.

They really don't talk that well of Scotty. His strengths are about half as long as his weaknesses.

Weaknesses: Must add bulk to his frame ... Was easily knocked off balance on drives to the hoop last season and, despite a quick first step, had difficulty shedding defenders when closely guarded ... Does not currently possess the strength to finish in traffic ... His game is marked by passivity ... Attempted under two free throw attempts per contest ... Too often stands behind the three point line, feet locked to the ground, with his hands out ... Does not make a concerted effort to move without the ball or get open ... Half of his field goal attempts came from distance ... Ball handling is quite questionable ... Very rarely attempts a drive from the three point line to the basket ... Does not create offense for others ... His offensive game lacks imagination and is very predictable and one dimensional at this stage ... His three key areas for improvement: strength, ball handling and aggression, all go hand in hand ... Has worked hard to lower the exceedingly high arch on his jumper which placed restraints on his consistency ... Needs to become more active on the glass where he averaged under 3 boards as a freshman ... Does not battle for position ... Needs to find the fire and desire to compete on defense when his energy level is too low.

OK, I still don't see how it's "craving attention concerning his intentions of going pro". It seems more like just a FB status about his excitement to have the opportunity to go pro. There's my view. What's yours? That's what I was trying to ask.

Fair enough I see your point. He should be excited. Fans do create much of the drama. Due to his lack of effort in certain aspects of his game Hopson comes across as a me first instead of team guy. My posts might not indicate it but I would like to have him back. I'm disappointed he doesn't seem to want to give CCM a chance. I really think it would improve his draft status next year and of course we would be a better team no doubt.

I would completely agree with all of the weakness information. I truly believe it would be in his best interest to return for his senior season. However, I see no need to bash him for trying to make the NBA if that is his dream. I don't think it is a realistic dream at this point, but that is his decision to make. More power to him regardless of the decision he makes.

Before anyone calls me a Facebook stalker, this just popped up on my news feed.

His status says, "closer to my dreams!"

Doesn't sound good to me.

The sad thing is...Hopson may not even get drafted. Even if he does, he would possibly go dead last which still doesn't gurantee a contract. Not dawging Scotty because he is our guy, but these kids need to use the mind. This may be the single biggest mistake in his life. Coming back for another year could improve his game and almost gurantee a better draft status.

Hopson has ELITE athleticism for a 6'7" frame. That alone is enough to get some team to bite. As far as potential is concerned, I doubt anyone on here thinks that Hopson has peaked at this point, and the league drafts on potential more than any other sport at the highest level. I am sorry, but the "Hopson's game doesn't have a place in the NBA" bit is tired at this point, to me anyway.

As for giving CCM a chance, while Hopson has been working out with his own trainer in NJ, he has still kept in contact with CCM, so I am not sure where you are getting that from. Just because he is preparing in what he feels is the best possible way, doesn't mean he isn't giving CCM a chance.

Depending on who keeps there name in the hat and who comes out next season could play a large part on where he gets drafted this year or next or at all for either draft class. You are flipping a coin and giving me odds that are different than 50/50

We would be better if Scotty stays. Period. End of Story. For selfish reasons, I hope he bombs out in his tryouts. I believe it will also be better for him in the long run to get some coaching from Martin's staff. A different coaching approach could help with his consistency and toughness. A year of body blows in practice this staff is implementing may just get him ready to go pro.

I really wish Vol Nation fans would stop talking trash about our own players and student-athletes. If someone has a dream of making it to the NBA, NFL or any other professional sport, we should be the last ones holding them back or bashing them. I rarely post, but it gets really annoying reading the negativity that so many of you have.

Scotty come back, any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Scotty come back, you can blame it all on me
I was wrong, and I just can't live without you

Gotcha. Thanks for clearing that up. I agree with everything except the "me first" thing (to a certain degree anyway, I don't totally disagree). But I do understand what you're saying.

on twitter, he said "Everyday im gettin closer to my dreams" he clearly means he is working hard everyday to get to the NBA which could be this year or next year. Stop over reacting and let him do what he wants to do.

I wish to have a dream of riding the pine for 5 years. Making a couple of mill before disappearing never to be seen again........….............................................maybe in Europe.

Seriously though, the guy needs another year of college to work on his game. His dribbling skills are atrocious.

Dribbling should be something he has down in high school - not his senior year of college. It's in his head and I don't know if that can be fixed by returning.

People act like he's a recruit that's going to potentially spurn us for another school - he gave us 3 years and we should support him if he feels he needs to try to play professionally rather than returning.
