Horston now has

Kushkitua is struggling. She is too dang big to be so soft, she keeps dropping her hands with the ball at that height keep it in the air. Don't let your hands get down to your waist near the basket. Plus she needs to work on her hands. She touched about 20 rebounds tonight but didn't bring that many in. Frustrating for sure. Coach Harper has to be livid

None of the girls seem to have any spatial awareness. It’s just unreal to me that they’ll throw a pass to a teammate with an opponent standing between the two with no clear passing lane....you can see the turnover coming from a mile away before it even happens.

They’re all so lax with the ball, no sense of urgency. Where was the intensity and tough mindedness tonight? Nowhere for the LVs....it was all with UConn and the difference was manifested with all the bad, lazy turnovers.

Struggling is putting it very mild. She rarely blocks out, plays very weak in the post, not very aggressive, misses easy shots and plays like she is tired.

So far Horston, unlike Westbrook, does not have a 10 Turnovers game.

Something to strive for...

I had a bad feeling UConn would be jumping the passing lanes....It's not logical why our girls throw the ball so lackadaisically, with the opponent waiting to jump the pass....

Horston and her endless string of turnovers.....Forget about it.

KK, what can I say.....Trying to be kind....She is what she is...Appears to be a sweet girl, but not a good basketball player and never will be...

Coach Kellie please, please, discipline the continuous turnover makers.....Pat would not put up with this stuff.

Kishkitua has major hand problems to be 6’4. She can’t help us I’m sad to say. Opponents know she has the height but that’s about it. We are going to have to recruit a big wothgood handspring the middle . I know she tries but it extremely frustrating to watch

This is probably the post I feel the most strongly about, out of everything tonight. I can't count how many times I find myself wanting to ask them "Why did you try that? What did you think was going to happen?" after a pass. So many unsafe passes where the defense rightly (and easily) anticipates and jumps the pass. Half the time my mouth is wide open, agape, and I just think "what on Earth was the plan there?"

The two plays that really stick out to me are one on defense and one on offense. Defensively she’s standing dead in the paint like she’s the middle man on the back line of a 2-3 zone while her player is draining a three 20 feet away. The other is on offense when she’s standing on the wing and the ball is passed to her to start the offense and she’s in lala land as the ball hits someone on the bench. Inexcusable. Not to mention the turnovers. Everyone had those tonight but she’s making other mental mistakes that are inexcusable.

Hopefully this exact conversation goes on during film session tomorrow. Or on the bench directly after such plays when the offender gets a chance to reflect on the error of her ways and think a bit before returning to the action. Of course that requires a sub who won't kill us in the interim, and that's a big problem.

Horston plays hard, but out of control.
I agree that she plays out of control. She tries to make the impossible pass, and none of her team mates do much to help her fumbling it away. But look at Burrell she will dribble into three people and turn it over when she had an open shot. If Hornston would let the game come to her and not try to be a superstar she would probably be a superstar, she is really good and will be better but has to slow down.

This may be a problem. She hasn’t shown signs of slowing down the turnovers.

Turnovers can be controlled if Coach Harper would install the Rick Barnes method. In practice, if a player has a turnover, Barnes makes the player run all the way from the floor to the top of the arena. If a player makes 4 turnovers and has to run from the floor to the top and back, he soon learns to have basketball security.

I like it.
